What Would You Like To See On Hive More? .:. Hive Humpday Hangout Ep.38 (Wednesday, February 12th, 5 PM UTC)
I suck at promoting stuff... I know that's bad, especially for a person who is trying to run a live show where the topic is HIVE... and promoting HIVE to others... 🙂 That's why I came up with the idea of giving a voice to others to express their views and opinions... I bet most of you are much better at promoting stuff than me! So, why wouldn't you come up, share your "secret", and help others to do the "right" thing...

There is a lot of good stuff on HIVE, but there is some bad stuff too... I suppose that's the nature of this "beast"... You have it everywhere... Ying and Yang... In every good there is bad, and in every bad, there is good... It's on us to pick a side and fight for "our side"... Hive is a DPOS blockchain, which means that with your bigger stake, you should take more responsibility for your actions as you can influence decisions made on the chain... All that means that you should try to put aside your PERSONAL objectives and think about what is best for EVERYONE, for the chain... There is no long-term win on HIVE if we think ONLY about ourselves, if we are selfish... HIVE wins when EVERYONE wins!
Recently, there has been a lot of politics on HIVE... Some are on the chain, and most are behind the "closed door"... It was like that always, but when you grow your stake, you notice that a lot more... Those who never cared about you or your work, are on your doorstep, asking for a vote, for THEIR short-term goal... I hate politics... So, we can agree that we don't need politics... 😃
So, what do we need more on HIVE? That would be the main topic and the main question for the next #HHHLive show! I would like to hear your views and opinions as sometimes, we get in our own bubble and can't see what others are thinking... We think that the most important is what bothers us, without thinking about others! HIVE is primarily a social network... That's our MAIN ADVANTAGE compared to other blockchains... It is our blessing and curse at the same time... It brings drama, it brings joy... It is REAL!
So, what would you like to see more on HIVE?
- More dapps? Maybe some specific dapps don't exist on HIVE, or maybe don't exist on other blockchains either?
- More games? Do you like to play games and you would like to see more of them on HIVE? What kind of games would you like to play with your friends on HIVE?
- More frontends? Maybe you would like to see separate frontends for different communities? Or tokenized communities? That was an old idea that is still on the table if I'm not wrong...
- More "real-life" HIVE events? Hive meetups are awesome and I like them a lot, but there is a place for more of them around the globe... Would you like to create some? Share it with others...
Of course, these are only my guesses and initial ideas... I hope we will get a lot more ideas in the show, shared by participants... So, don't forget to join and share yours!
How was the last show? Last time we were talking about crypto plans and goals... It was awesome to see many people stepping out at the microphone sharing their plans for the future... It was nice to compare our plans with others, and maybe do some adjustments if needed... If you missed that one, you can always check out the show recap and recording!

More people in the blockchain so we can call it a country with different states and each have their own communities.
That's an interesting idea... Imagine doing that with your town! Now we "just" need to onboard everyone and it will be easier... 😃
I would like to see a plugin to use Hive on Wordpress. It seems like using Wordpress as a front end for Hive would be what everyone would want.
I've poked around at trying to do it, but I suck at dev.
Something like that existed on the legacy chain... SteemPress was called, or something similar... I think there are similar tools...

Politics is a dirty game as you've said. I like to do things on my own rather to be influenced to do it. I think when it comes to playing the games, we have many short term politicians on Hive who just wants to ride the tide for their purpose. In my opinion if a politician is good at what they do, they don't need 100% influence to coo others to do their bidding.
It's a waste of time... Politicians are just puppets... The problem is that they lure you into their game, instead of doing something productive...
Anyway, we will try to keep the show in a positive direction as usual... Working on improving ourselves!
I would have to say that new Hive apps and games would be my pick. I think that is what we need to attract new users.
As for politics, it sucks. It's never fun to talk about it and people's views tend to be quite polarized.
Agree with you that apps, and games especially, are the best onboarding tools... It happened with Splinterlands in the past, and it could happen with some future games too...
At Hive we always need more investors and less sales pressure 😂. I can't think of anything else. I hope to join the show tonight, I will check the time on Discord.

I don't think I will be able to join this week.. Hmm my controversial view is I think Hive is good the way it is. I don't feel there is a strong need to go all out to promote - people will eventually find out one way or another. In the mean time, let me accumulate more Hive before that happens. Maybe I am the only one that thinks like that. :P

I was having this thought the other day about the human element on Hive and how it is at the forefront, thanks to the social network aspect of it, compared to other ecosystems. Initially, I thought this was a good thing, for the most part. But now, I'm being more realistic after reading this post, particularly the blessing and curse at the same time of having a primarily social network as our main advantage.

While HIVE is a social network it is a big difference between it and others... If you compare it to IG or FB, you will realize that you are there (if you are 😃), because all your friends are there... I mean, friends that you know from before, your neighbors, your family... Here on HIVE, as we are still so small community, most people come by "accident", without knowing anyone, and we are building NEW connections and friendships...
It's like being on FB when there are 5K people... It gets easier when your "real-life" friends join too... I hope that will happen somewhere in the future... 🙂
Right. FB has a broader network effect. Many of us than join Hive in this regard it's because we're bold and curious enough lol, joining a network we're you literally know no one previously and having to build connections with individuals from different parts of the world.
There are alot to say, but first I want to say;
I think we first need a straight vote distribution on HIVE. A post contains about 50 words shouldn't reach $10 payout if we mention quality content every so often.

Agree on quality, not per definition the amount of words though…
I’ve seen 💯 posts with 5 words and a great photo, and receiving 0.02 in payout, and posts with 2000words of pure rubbish, almost just random words repeated, and receiving +10€ or even a lot more as payout.
So totally agree on the quality thing!
I can't say that I disagree, but in that context, it's hard to find a way to "prevent" it. It's not the issue of people who are creating that content, but more about the people who are upvoting. As in most cases, those are automatic upvotes, preaching manual curation is the only way to do things more "fair." Not only that, manual curation is doing a lot more in decentralizing the reward pool distribution.
Supporting automatic upvotes, following big curation trails, or delegating all your HivePower to big accounts is shooting ourselves in the foot...
