Self-Sustainable dApps, TVL, Profit... What's That? .:. WorkerBee PH-Pool Week 261
People think that there is no money made in the bear markets... That you can't make money in "bad days", or in days of a big crisis... Wrong... Let's ignore those bad actors who get rich on the back of poor people through hyperinflation or war profiteers, and try to find better examples today...

The first thing to know is that bear markets are the best (if not the only) opportunity to accumulate cheap assets... In those (or maybe I should say, "these") moments, you can make a difference that will mean something in the future... The hardest thing to do is to push that BUY button when everyone is calling the end, the BIG ZERO, the collapse of everything... But, let's ignore this example, too...
Blockchains are more than just a database, more than a coin attached to them, more than just a social network... They can be (and are) powerful foundations for different business opportunities... What was imaginable just a decade ago is possible today... Imagine running a money exchange without dozens of licenses, or giving some financial loans without being a bank, or running a casino without paying a big racket (pardon lobby) to certain individuals... Today, you can run almost all these things in a decentralized way, "hosted" (or powered by) on a blockchain...
While we have some of these things on HIVE, we are far away from some other chains... Instead of having dapps that attract money to HIVE, we have dapps that are extracting money from HIVE?! We are oppositely doing things! TVL (Total Value Locked) is an important metric in the crypto world, and not just there... It is important how much money is "nested" in the ecosystem, as it shows that investors have TRUST in the chain! You wouldn't give your hard-earned money to a random person to save it for you, would you? We can talk about our chain, we can shill it on Reddit or X, but without an EXAMPLE, the job to attract investors is 100x harder...
We need a SELF-SUSTAINABLE KILLER APP! I'm not sure if we currently have any that we could showcase to others... Maybe the @risingstargame, who did everything without a penny from DHF, big whales, or some bigger support... It was a small group of people, building it day by day... It would be great to see Jux driving a Lambo with earned money from the game one day... Who knows, maybe we will 😃 If that happens, I would not be afraid about the HIVE price... 🙂
Maybe Splinterlands... Yes, they got a small push from the DHF, but they still struggle atm... It's hard out there, but the battle is still on...
We should look a bit outside our bubble a bit... Look at those Hyperliquid(s) type trading platforms, they are earning money in the bull, but in the bear too! People are LONGING, but also SHORTING different assets... Imagine one platform like that, buying back HIVE with 2-3% of their profits, and sending it to NULL! We could have a "bottom price" that can't go down because of buybacks and burns!
I hope we will not screw HIVE by being greedy and thinking only about ourselves... "Screw others, I will take my HBD, and you keep your inflating HIVE POWER..." Sometimes, I think I can hear the voices on the chain saying exactly that... If you don't hear them, you can probably see them in their wallets...
Let's see the WorkerBee Pool numbers for this week...
This week, we have mined 106 BEE tokens in total, 4 tokens fewer than the week before!
This week, we didn't get new delegators! Interestingly, this is the first time that we didn't get any additional delegations, either! It's rough out there...
This pool doesn't charge fees, and you can earn up to 20% more by delegating to it!
What about the bonus tokens?
Today it's turn on the LEN tokens to be given away to the delegators as a bonus reward! You probably know about it, but I will repeat a short explanation of where it comes from... It is a main token of the @liotes project that is run by @achim03 and me... As we aren't developers, we combined the power of this chain, awesome community, sound tokenomics, some token burns, and additional streams of income to incentivize people... The result is a relatively stable token which goes up in value (indexed in HIVE)... No big support at launch, no DHF funds, no whales behind, just the power of community! It does stick out from hundreds of others that went to zero...
There will be distributed 74 LEN tokens to the delegators of the pool as a bonus reward today!
74 LEN tokens will be distributed as a bonus... The APR (without the bonus) was 12.054%, and when we added the bonus, it went up to 14.523%!
I have calculated the ROI approximately with medium prices for all tokens when creating this post... So, those numbers are valid if you bought WB and sold BEE tokens at the middle HiveEngine price...

If we had on hive games like fifa, cod or fortnite, you would see people or investors that would come... As long as we dev only niche apps it's tough and also if people are no aware of hive, how can you bring them here? Even if we make the best dapp ever
If you create a dapp that brings you money, you would advertise it everywhere to get more money, wouldn't you? 😃 People don't have to know anything about HIVE at all.. ;)
I remember I joined the chain because of Splinterlands, and had no idea that there is social network behind, or a blockchain...
I have a feeling that we are doing things wrong... Instead of dapps advertising themselves, and HIVE getting the "side effect", we are advertising HIVE... Hopefully, that will change WHEN/IF we get more self-sustainable dapps, with a good business model!

So much agree we need services that bring in money from the outside, fiat money and/or none-HIVE crypto money.
Am wondering when we see business teams being created, and perhaps - partially - funded for their work.
IMHO, we shall go out in the market, B2B, to find business in conjunction with defining truly compelling services and make them happen (for that, again, business teams are required, not just tech people wanting to code something).
The trick is, who wants to step up as non-techies to setup startup - small - enterprises for our ecosystem?
From the discussions here in the comment section, we are still hitting the wall with the thought that we should market HIVE... On the other side, more than half of the people joined HIVE through Splinterlands, without knowing about the social network behind... The answer is in front of our eyes... 😃
Dapps, dapps, and profitable dapps... When you earn money from your app, it's not a brainer to invest some in advertising to get more... :)

But also true we should not use B2C marketing. But we shall form Biz Dev teams supported by Devs to create compelling stories for potential targeted service partners and when needed help integrating the partner services. I much more believe in such concept rather than any B2C marketing.
Also true, and for such indeed some B2C marketing may be in order. That said, it shall be done good. These days it is quite easy to get an app in a smart phone marketplace like Apple and Android. Plenty of AI (vibe) coded apps already in their stores. Supported by all sort of simple to install and managed frameworks doing all the work for the dev. Perhaps some dev teams already using this, but so far am not reading about devs using this. Ok, I read a proposal and ok from Blocktrades on funding devs with AI subscriptions to help coding based on Blocktrades own experience his coding time is about factor 10 faster.

Bear markets can feel intimidating, but they present special chances for growth when handled wisely, such as accumulating HIVE and staking them ;)

I think we definitely need more killer apps. We need to attract new users, and also retain our current users. Right now, I can only see us bleeding users without adding too many.
