Risk On, Risk Off .:. WorkerBee PH-Pool Week 243

The million-dollar question that has been asked every single day from the beginning of 2025 is... Wen altcoin season? Wen HIVE to the moon? Recently, we received some additional variations of those questions, which introduce some doubt, such as... Will we have an altcoin season this year/bull run? Usually, when doubt comes, it's a good sign... Much better than when everyone is expecting the SAME thing happening, at the SAME time...

I'm not an expert, but there is a pattern happening in every market cycle... Those are the "risk on and risk off" periods... When we are in the "risk off" period of a market cycle, everyone is more cautious, and investors "pick their bets" much more carefully, as every dollar counts, and the future is very much uncertain... When we are in the "risk on" period, investors are throwing money left and right, going up on the risk curve, investing in shady and riskier stuff, searching for bigger gain... Nobody looks at pennies, but in millions...

If we look at crypto markets separately, we have something similar happening in crypto... When we are risk-off, everybody runs to stablecoins and Bitcoin, but when we are in the risk-on, people go toward the "riskier tokens"... Firstly, Top20 token, then going further spreading to Top100, and in the final stage, most token is considered for investing, or speculating... This year, most of the time, Bitcoin was the only one that had its bull run, while some other tokens had some nice moves up, but nothing too special... Some of the top tokens moved up, but if we go lower in the CMC ranking, not much happened...

Personally, I changed my opinion about risk-on and risk-off tokens, and assets in general... What I considered risk-off in the past became very risky today, and vice versa... Today, I got in my hand a small brochure with real estate offers in my area, which made me think... After the real estate crisis in 2008, the market had deflation, which was more stagflation to be honest... Prices didn't go up like crazy, but rather down for 2-4 years, but after that, the prices continued to go up...

So, if we look at that period 2008-2012, that was probably the best moment to buy a real estate (if you had money)... I remember looking at some apartments in those days... They were ridiculously cheap... Real estate in those moments (after the crash), in my opinion, was the RISK-ON market... The bottom was there, almost no risk if you invest in any real estate... But... We had another "small" (rather big) bump on the road in 2019-2020... The C19 crisis changed my view regarding real estate...

For example, while I was checking the small RE brochure, I got a reminder about the fact that not ALL real estate went up in price... The commercial real estate is still in a huge crisis... As of C19, many businesses moved online, and commercial real estate prices have been constantly going down in the last 4-5 years... At least in my area... What did that show me? Well, not ALL real estate is a haven for investing, and something that was considered a SAFE BET can change into a risky thing...

I could continue with the list of things that are riskier than they were in the past... Fiat money is the first thing that comes to my mind, but let's leave it here... What changed in your point of view? What do you consider a safe bet today that wasn't like that before?

What about the bonus tokens?

This time, I will distribute LEO tokens as a bonus reward to you guys... After that huge price pump in mid-August, we had a big drop to 0.5-0.6 HIVE... After a bumpy August, from early September, the price began to climb up to the right almost all the time... At the moment, it is around 0.73 HIVE, and we will see where it will go... Maybe it can reach 1 HIVE by the end of 2025? It was 1.25 in mid-August, so it can be done...

There will be distributed 12 LEO tokens to the delegators of the pool as a bonus reward today!

Gold has probably impressed me most lately. Overtaken average stock market returns , plus better tax wise as an asset. But it has had a terrible time the last 30 years. But as my Gold dealer said last week, I dont even look at the price I stacked so cheaply.

The pressure of "not taking profits too early" is easier to grasp when you have a bigger margin...

Amazingly, real estate has almost tripled (in some places), in just 7-8 years! It should be a slow-growth asset!

There is only so much real estate to good around (scarcity) so its price will always trend upward over the long term. But it is hard to tell when it is at it's bottom like any asset. Wish we had a crystal ball to be able to determine when to buy.

I agree that it's hard to "spot" the bottom on any asset... But this specific time, after the big crisis, it was almost crystal clear for real estate... at least, close to the bottom...
When I realized that I could AFFORD to buy it, when I wasn't just a few years ago... And my income didn't change... 😃 Anyways, I didn't do it... Instead of buying real estate, I bought GPUs and mined ETH... which didn't turn bad at all... 😃

I think it depends, but I think all things have some type of risk. It's hard to tell what is the best choice, but the most you can do is do the research and decide. I just keep thinking this cycle will be different and I wonder just how the cryptos outside of BTC will react.

The cycle is definitely different, as if not, we should have the ATH of BTC today, and from now on, the price should go down... Also, today we should have the biggest hype in crypto, but it doesn't look like that at all...

Anyways, who knows... We will get a confirmation in the next few days/weeks, if it is different or not...

For me a safe bet for the last year is gold (and silver), I don't know when its race will stop, for sure not until there are all that geopolitics tensions... Real estate was a bargain until 2016-2017

I’m not sure our economies align but I remember how I missed on some land in 2023 because I didn’t have money (it was freaking cheap) and now those same lands tripled in price. I sound like a baby, lol, I’m not really conversant with things like these. Hehe.

Wow! In only 2 years, it did 3x?? That's a lot... I remember a similar thing happened here, but in the first 2 years after C19... That was the biggest price pump in real estate, in the shortest time...

Btw. I do have my regrets on this topic too... It's not acting like a baby... hehehehe...

Yeah. It was a shock. Currently there are more lands popping up at very little prices ($340/plot) and the areas are developing. These plots used to be lower than that. Working to get my hands on one.

We cannot say that the altcoin season has not started because here we have seen that the prices of the top coins have increased so much, like Solana, BNB and many other such coins. So what I am saying here is that now the time has changed, so we should have changed our thinking a little and taken our investments into the top coins and only then could we have made a profit.
