Let me chime in and confirm your suspicions... I get you! 😃
I will have to go even one step further into the past, in pre-Internet times, when you would connect over a modem to the BBS and discuss on public forums... After that, came the Internet era and phpBB, and it was exactly as you described... You would join the discussion with strangers and become part of the community...
Also, when MySpace, FB, and the rest came, I was still on phpBB, and somehow, I skipped most of the socials that came after (Pinterest, IG, etc.. Interestingly, HIVE got me! Maybe because it was a similar "logic" to the one before... Strangers>building community>offline meetups... Or is it an "old-tech-type" social network that sticks with us "oldies"? 😂

Brother, this is a dream adventure, and the best part is that you have amazing photos and some GIFs, too. I think you chose the perfect boat, as it offers unique touches you wouldn't find on others; you were literally pirates for the day. The water is stunning—I loved that turquoise color and I think what surprised me most was that you dared to swim with those turtles. Of course, I don't know if it's dangerous or not, but I feel like I wouldn't be able to do it myself, hahaha.

It’s true, it’s an area that seems to speak of times gone by, times long past, and even more so when shrouded in mist. I’ll tell you that many of the photographs are perfect for spinning tales, the sort I love so much; they’re inspiring, like cobwebs. But what surprises me is what you mention about people having the crosses that will one day be placed on their own graves; it’s something I’d never heard of, let alone seen, as if that anticipation were always present in their minds.
Today your father would have turned 96; this post and these photographs, taken in the place where he loved to walk, are a wonderful tribute to him

What a brilliant story! People have always talked about photographs; even in ancient cultures, taking photos was forbidden because they said they stole people’s souls, that somehow something happens there. The truth is that many forms of black magic and witchcraft use photos of people to carry out… rituals, as they say. And it’s not just that I’ve been told this, I’ve seen it in my own family.
Your story is unsettling; I wonder if there might be a grain of truth to it.

Well, I can assure you that hearing that story gave me the creeps, and if it’s all true, and the part that’s fiction is what you assumed about what was happening or the link between the deaths and the pale photos, well… it might not be fiction at all, and it might simply happen like that, with the photos serving as a warning. There are many ways of sending warnings; some cultures even believe that photos steal people’s souls. Perhaps the photos reflect the soul and there is a connection.
I don’t know, let me know if you can what you felt during the last part of the story, as you were falling asleep or perhaps passing out. Because someone took your photo, and there’s a reason for it.

That’s the thing about vanity and ego, they make people believe they’re superior to others, even to the point of taking another’s life just so they can be better. It reminds me of a children’s story that dealt with the same theme, though of course told in a way suitable for children. The mirror was simply doing its job, but at a certain point that vanity was devoured by the mirror itself. I love stories involving that object, because there’s so much talk and so many beliefs surrounding it.
I suppose the ending of the story is quite realistic, there will always be a woman who wants to remain beautiful forever and who never wants time to take its toll on her body, so much so that she’ll reach for the mirror and use it.
