When it comes to self care, most of us only take it seriously when something is already wrong like when you are sick, that is when you will suddenly remember to drink water, rest well, take drugs on time and all that, but when you are fine, you just dey move like nothing fit happen. I used to be like that too, not until I started realizing that taking care of yourself when you are okay is actually more important , So for me now, I try, even if it’s not perfect.

One thing I try to do is to listen to my body more, before, I could be tired and still push myself because I feel like I have things to do, but now, if I’m feeling stressed or weak, I try to slow down small, even if it is just lying down, closing my eyes for a bit, or just taking a break from everything, I have realized that rest is not laziness, sometimes your body is just asking you to calm down, another thing is food, I won’t come here and lie like I am eating healthy every single day because that one is not even realistic but I try, I try not to skip meals like before, because I used to do that a lot, now I make sure I eat at least something reasonable, and I drink water more often. It might sound like something small, but it actually makes a big difference, for my mind, I have learned that not everything deserves my energy, this one took time for me to understand, i used to overthink a lot, worry about things I cannot even control, and it would just drain me mentally, but now, I try to take things one step at a time, If something is stressing me too much, I either step away from it or distract myself with something lighter, like watching videos, listening to music, or just scrolling and relaxing, also, I try to create small moments of peace for myself. It might just be sitting quietly, enjoying my drink, or even just being alone for a while without noise, those small moments actually help me reset without even realizing it.
Another thing I’m still working on is sleep. I won’t lie, my sleep schedule is not the best sometimes I stay up late for no serious reason, but I’m trying to be more intentional about it, because I’ve noticed that when I sleep well, everything else feels easier, at the end of the day, my self care is not something serious or complicated, It is just small small things I do to make sure I’m okay, both physically and mentally, because I have come to understand that you don’t have to wait until something goes wrong before you start taking care of yourself.
Even when you feel fine, you still need that care, And honestly, I’m still learning, but at least now, I’m more aware.

Beautiful piece...
And of a truth, we shouldn't wait till we break down before taking care of ourselves and running some check-ups..
And about the sleep, good that you realized you're not doing enough in that aspect.. pls do well to do better 🤞
