How Long Would I Last in a Survival Situation? LOH#253.

If you ask me how long I would last in a survivor-man type of situation, hmm let me be honest with myself, I don’t think I’d last that long oh, I know that people will say they can survive anywhere, but me, the moment I see a snake that's crawling on the floor, that might just be the end of my survival journey, lolz.

Okay let's just say they drop me in one thick forest like that, just me, my bag, and nothing else, at first, I will be like, “Okay, I can do this, let me just find water and a place to rest.” I have watched a couple of survival shows, and I know the first thing is always shelter and water, so, maybe I will try to gather some sticks and leaves to build something small that I can probably sleep under, but then again, I know myself I will probably end up using half of the sticks to chase away small insects instead of building the shelter.

When it comes to food, hmm, that one is another wahala, I don’t know how to hunt, I don’t know how to trap an animal, so maybe I would survive on fruits but then the question is, how do I even know which fruit is safe to eat, ehn .. The way my own life is set up, it is possible I will eat something poisonous thinking it is sweet mango, that is why I always tell people, don’t carry me to a forest survival camp oh, because I will just embarrass myself.

The only thing I know I can actually do is to make fire, not with sticks oh, because that one is film trick, but if I am lucky enough to have matches or a lighter, at least I can roast whatever food I find, and fire also means protection, because at least it will scare animals away, so yes, fire will be my own small saving grace.

But I know I have strengths too, for one, I don’t panic easily, so even though I will be scared, I know I will try to think straight and find small ways to cope, and then, I am someone who does not give up fast, So even if the forest is tough, I will tell myself, “Omo, you can’t just die here oh, better push through.” That stubborn spirit might keep me alive longer than I expect.

Now the weakness that will finish me is this , I don’t like being alone, If it is just me in the forest, no human being to gist with, no phone to scroll, no internet to distract me, my brain will just start playing tricks on me, I will probably start talking to trees like they are my friends, imagine me saying, “Abeg Mr. Tree, help me hold this fruit.” That is how madness starts oh.

So how long do I think I will last? If I’m being realistic, maybe three to four days. By that time, hunger and fear will combine together to finish me, If there is no rescue by then, I will just lie down on the ground and accept my fate, but if I am lucky to find fruits, water, and maybe firewood, maybe I can stretch myself up to a week.

All in all, I know survivor life is not for me. I will survive better in the city, where my biggest problem is NEPA taking light and not whether a lion will use me for dinner.
