Some jobs are essential for the holidays. Have you ever had to work on holidays? If not, have you ever done anything for someone who does?
There is this one time I had to celebrate my new year being the first day of the year in the hospital, I know you might be thinking, am i there as a patient or as a patient relative? Well, the answer is NO! I was actually working as a pharmacist in one of the most stressful department which is accident and emergency unit. Was it satisfying because I was saving life? Yes! But definitely draining.

It was actually few years back when I was still working as an intern in one of the teaching hospitals in my state, usually the roaster for duties are finalized with everyone present to know how to manage everyone's adjustments and plans.
The issue was, if you decide to spend the Christmas at home with your family, you will have to work on New years day, and as you know, am not giving up on my Christmas day celebration, so I had to pick the 1st of January to work alongside many others.
Well, looking back, it was not all that bad I guess, I still got to spend the crossover night in church before resuming for work that same morning.
I knew I was there to work and all but what is wrong with people not appreciating their worker's, expecially in this season of giving for goodness sakes.
I know the hospital is owned or rather controlled by the state government, but there are still people put in place to oversea all the activities and work going around in the hospital all year round.
Obviously, my family home is far away from the hospital so I can't access any meal prepared. The normal hospital meal ticket which is a regular was still given to us, not making anything special.
Thank goodness for one of my colleague's who stays within the hospital, she prepared fried rice, salad and chicken for myself and my colleagues in the Pharmacy department, and a few others outside the department, which was cool and awesome of her.
Well, as soon as I was done with my work hour, I ran, like I ran to my fathers house( Obviously am being sarcastic with the word ran) I won't be able to, because of the distance, I boarded a vehicle the morning of the 2nd, straight to my family house and enjoyed myself.
Photo is mine
Thank you for stopping by!
It's great that you and your colleagues were able to resolve the food issue on New Year's Day in a positive way.

I love how you planned the holiday with work at the time. I mean not much happens for the new year anyway.
Exactly, I feel the beginning of a new year, every activities on pause has began so why not work then when you have the choice to choose.
Ah, good balance. I’m so glad it worked out ❤️
Exactly! I was so happy it did.
