The Luxury I Can Never Understand - LOH 303

There is one kind of luxury that even when I can afford someday,i still probably won’t buy..
A ridiculously expensive car..

I know, I know… before the car people come for me..

I like nice cars.. I appreciate a clean Mercedes, a Range Rover, a Porsche, or any of those machines that make you turn your head when they pass but spending an insane amount of money on a car just because I can?.. I don't think I’ll ever understand it... Maybe it's because of where I’m coming from.

A car, to me, is supposed to take me from point A to point B comfortably, safely and without making me visit a mechanic every other week. Once it starts doing that job properly, I honestly don't care if the person beside me has a car three times the price of mine because the funny thing about luxury is that sometimes we stop buying things because we need them and start buying them because we want people to know that we can afford them and that's where I personally draw the line...

Imagine spending ₦350 million on a car when a ₦30 million car can comfortably do almost everything you need... what exactly am I paying the extra ₦220 million for?
A louder engine?
A different logo? Or Someone looking at me at the traffic light and thinking, "This girl has made it."...

I'd rather put that money into something that can actually grow.
Business.
Investments.
Property.
Learning something new Or honestly, just having enough money sitting somewhere that I don't start sweating whenever life throws an unexpected bill at me..

I think we've somehow allowed society to convince us that success must be visible.
The bigger house.
The expensive watch.
The designer clothes.
The latest iPhone.
The exotic holiday.
The luxury car and there's nothing wrong with enjoying those things if they genuinely make you happy. I'm not judging anyone for spending their money but personally, I don't want to reach a point where I am spending money mainly to prove that I have money.

I'd rather have financial freedom that nobody can see than financial status that everybody can see but I secretly can't afford to maintain because there is a difference between being rich and looking rich and if I ever become wealthy, I hope I have enough sense to remember that difference.

Maybe I'll still buy the nice car someday but if you see me driving a very expensive one, just know that I have already made enough money elsewhere to justify the stupidity
