If I had the power to create a single law in my country Nigeria, it would be a law that strictly punishes corruption. Corruption has been one of the greatest problems affecting our nation Nigeria today. Despite the fact that we are endowed with natural and human resources, 60 to 65% of Nigerian citizens live in poverty because of corruption.
The big question is, "what is the course of corruption in Nigeria?" Political office holders, public officials and others entrusted with power uses it for their own personal gain. In Nigeria we hear cases of embezzlement of public funds, bribery, contract inflation, and mismanagement of resources meant for development of the country. Money that should be used to build good roads, hospitals, schools, and provide employment opportunities is sometimes diverted into private pockets. As a result, our roads remain in poor condition, hospitals are under equipped, schools do not have adequate facilities, youths remained unemployed, and families struggle everyday to meet their basic needs.

If i had the power to create a single law in Nigeria, it would be to enact a law against corruption with death sentence. Oh yes you hard me right, the aim of such law would not be to promote cruelty not at all, but to create a strong deterrent, to promote honesty and responsibility. Leaders would understand that resources entrusted to them are meant to serve the people and develop the nation, not to satisfy their personal interest. They will also think twice before engaging in the act of corruption because they know that the penalty are extremely severe.
Corruption is one of the major reasons many Nigerians continue to suffer in the midst of abundance. If I enact a strict law against corruption, it would send a strong message that the future of the nation must not be sacrificed for personal gain. With proper enforcement of the law, with discipline, and accountability, Nigeria can move closer to becoming the prosperous nation it has the potential to become.
Have You Ever Tolerated Abusive Behaviour From Someone Close To You Due TO Social Pressure? If So How Did You Handle It.?
I was often body shamed by people around me. Some of the comments were made jokingly, while others were said very directly, but the truth is that those words hurts deeply. But I tolerated those comments for a long time.
Constant negative remarks about my body at some point began to affect the way I saw myself. To the point that I almost became depressed, I started believing the hurtful things people said about me.
At some point I decided to open us to my Mom, because I have always see her as my confidant. When. I pour my heart out to her telling her how I was feeling, she encouraged me in a way that changed my mindset. She reminded me that everyone is uniquely created and that I should learn how to appreciate myself just the way I am. She assured me that I was beautifully made and that I should never allow the opinion of others to define me.
From that day, I started working on seeing myself in a positive way. I began to appreciate myself and to understand that beauty comes in different forms.
But life is funny 🤣🤣🤣 at times, and has its ways of turning things around. Today, the same body that people once mocked, is the same body that they admire and some are even willing to spend fortune to achieve.
That conversation with my Mom helped me to overcome a very difficult period in my life. No one should tolerate abusive words or behaviours in silence. Speaking up and seeking help and support from people that truly love us will make a huge difference.
What do you think about this week's topics? I would love to read your thoughts.
