As A Kid And Today

To become a nurse has always been my dream right from my childhood. I wanted to help people feel better, care for the sick, wear white uniform, you know, feeling happy while doing it because that's who I wanted badly to be.

This is week 302 of @ladiesofhive contest questioned and judged by @saffisara and I am happy to participate.

My dream of becoming a nurse was chartered because my father did not believe in his female children. He believed that it was a waste of resources to train female child, instead of school, he married us all out early and that was the end of my dream of becoming a nurse.

After marriage, my husband turned out to be the best thing that has ever happened to me. Together we tried different kinds of businesses and later, we finally settled with what we are doing till today which is selling of all kinds of drinks, be it alcohol, wine, soft drinks, that's my business till date.

When I sometimes think back, I wished that I had followed my dream. But that's life for you, job titles can sometimes change but passion doesn't die, right?

My passion to become a nurse did not die and will not, because I care for people in my own little way even though I'm not doing it medically, I check on people who are sick, I listen to them, and render help to them according to my ability. I also visit orphanage home from time to time. It's in me, and I don't hesitate to help whenever and however way I can.

One thing is certain, if my eyes had been a bit more open then like they are now, I would have applied a little pressure, either on myself or on my parents and fought for my dream.

Since I could not have it, I encourage all my young friends and every young one who cares to know, to always remember that, their childhood dream is usually pointing at who they will eventually become in the future. So they should never abandon their dreams. I encourage them to ask questions, seek advice, fight for their dreams and look for ways to achieve it regardless. Because if I had seen some one who advised me, I would have been living my dream life now.

But I am not regretting, no, but the truth must be said. Nurse or no nurse, I'm still living my life and still caring for people because that's who I am, and I'm not planning on changing that part of me because I cannot even change it even if I try.

Thank you all for stopping at @sarahbaby blog. You are all welcomed.

You would have made a fine Nurse.
You knew early, you have the aptitude and passion, all you needed was the chance to get the training. Perhaps if you stuck to your position you might have convinced your father, maybe your husband.
Keep that dream @sarahbaby

When comes a time that your parents are old and frail, relatives will say, "Who will care for them?" And all of them will point to you.

Thank you so much ma'am, your words really touched me. Yes I have that love for carying in me and I'm not going to let go. And yes out of five siblings that I have, I'm the only one that my parents feels comfortable to stay with. And no matter what, I will always stand by my parents and care for them to the best of my ability.

You had the same lovely childhood dream like me, I still love the nursing profession though I might not cope up with that their night shift right now but I still love them.

"My passion to become a nurse did not die and will not, because I care for people in my own little way even though I'm not doing it medically..."

This is wonderful! "Caring for people" can take many forms, and it is fabulous that you are still channeling that caring energy into helping others! Instead of a nurse's uniform, you're wearing angel's wings. šŸ’–

Nursing is a great way of caring for people. A great hospitality and wonderful way of reaching out to people in our most little ways. Ambitions and passions do not die, they can always be channelled in different dimensions.
