How beautiful is a house with a garden, whether big or small! There’s something attractive when a house is surrounded by a garden with different plants that benefit humans.
I love such gardens to be fenced where animals or intruders won’t come in to start plucking or destroying the innocent plants. I see homes with gardens, and most times when I see people taking care of them, I love it.
This is because they know the importance of tending to these plants and making sure the garden itself is protected and cleaned to make it nourishing enough for the plants to grow well and, in the end, become a life-saving solution for good hygiene and health.
We have a little garden fenced in the compound back in my hometown, and to tell you, it’s a lucky one for us because we have a few plants for our use, either for cooking or just preparing as herbs to cure any illness in our bodies and thus, making us feel better.
No wonder my late grandmother had look so fresh while on earth because she prefers we pluck fresh plants for her to add to her meal.
As a diabetic patient, she made sure her meal has enough vegetables which she consumed a lot and because we had such plant in our garden, it saved us cost and from going outside to get which, most times, many of them aren’t fresh.
The same thing with my aunt, too. She has a mini garden behind her apartment where she lives. It was given to her to nurture and grow whatever she wanted by a neighbour who had to move out of the building because of the increase in rent that he and his family couldn’t afford to pay.
My aunt was very much excited about the garden and every time we were on call, she would pride in her plants and talk about how they were growing. The last time we talked, she told me how she had harvested yams, vegetables and okro to make food with, and that helped her a lot. Because of this, she was always taking care of the plants in the garden by watering every day; morning and evening.
I saw it as a stress thing, having to take buckets of water to the back of her apartment and continue to water every day. The last time she travelled and I was at her place, she had to entrust the garden into my care and made sure I watered those little plants every morning and night.
It was tiring the first few days until I became used to it, especially when I saw how they were growing and getting bigger.
That made me realise that consistency without getting tired or giving up will yield good results later; it’s all a matter of patience and time.
I have always said that once I have my own home or perhaps move to my husband's place, we would ensure we have a small garden where we’d grow different kinds of plants that are useful for cooking and our health.
I am also prepared for the work, too, especially the watering part. I would make sure they are given enough water to nourish them while they grow bigger. I will make sure the garden is always tidied and there is enough space for the plants to thrive well while they fulfil their purpose of their planting.
Having a garden in a home makes it look attractive because I love the green colour and how colourful it makes everywhere look. I will also have some kinds of flowers to decorate the garden while they bloom and I wait for their harvest season to enjoy the efforts being put into it.
I wouldn’t want a big garden, though, as I need to be able to care for the small ones and make sure they are always given the best treatment, especially going through the pruning process.

Having a garden at home is a must, especially with our Nigerian economy. Sometimes one won't need to bother themselves with buying some veggies
Absolutely 💯
It saves cost. Thank you for reading.
Always welcome 🤗
Having a garden at home is one of the best things to have. It's also good if the house is fenced like you said because I remembered how a friend of mine complained about her neighbour's goats eating all what she planted. That was what discouraged her.
Sure, it will discourage someone when they have worked on their garden until rodents or animals come in to destroy it. It's good to fence such garden to prevent them.
You are so right sis. Something hits differently when you see a house with a garden. It speaks health and wholeness.
Absolutely 💯
Thank you, sis.
You're welcome
Nothing feels better than going outside to collect fresh herbs for the fresh salad :-)
By the way: Want to know my garden rule no 1? Its: Only plants you can eat in some way. What first sounds weird and very limited turned out to be a garden full of beautiful blooming herbs, lavender, nasturtium, dandelion ... I just love it!
I'm telling you....it's amazing. It's refreshing, too.
I appreciate your garden rule. Thank you.
The joy of seeing you plant grow in good health is something you can explain. Love a house with garden. Thanks for sharing.
Yea, exactly. It's amazing having a garden of your own in your home. Thank you for reading.
You're welcome.
Thank you.
Right, taking care of the plants can sometimes be a demanding task but when you start noticing the changes in terms of the plants growing bigger, blooming flowers and everything, you get super pumped to continue going and the effort becomes very manageable. Growing much of my own food that I consume is a personal goal of mine :)
Yea, that's right. We tend to keep motivated when we see the results of our efforts evident in what we do. Thank you for reading.
