Gardening a source of joy and fresh produce #244

Having a garden here in my country is a blessing because most people built their houses without leaving any space for plants. Even a common flower will not have a space in the house since everywhere is occupied.

I love gardening because I will get to plant anything that I want and also have a chance to take care of my plants since they are in my care.

I am lucky with the space left in my backyard by my landlord; he was going to do an interlock floor, but I was able to persuade him not to do it so that I could have a garden, which he reasoned with me about and then left the backyard for me to use as my personal garden in the house.

I love plants a lot, and that’s probably because I was raised in the village where our source of income is from farming. My grandma had a big farm, which I and my siblings always helped her with whenever we were on holiday.

I love fresh fruits, peppers, and vegetables, and I wouldn’t deny the fact that I left my former house because there was no space for me to develop a garden, and the little space that I managed there was causing a huge problem between me and the landlady because she doesn’t like plants, so she always complained that I stopped using her compound to farm, so instead of having issues with her, I and my husband decided to leave her house.

We started looking for an apartment, which we got lucky with this year some months ago, and immediately I settled in. I made my new landlord understand that I would love to have a garden where I can plant something.

He is a garden lover as well, and he has this big guava tree in front of his apartment, and with that I am rest assured that my new garden is safe.

So this is what I do to take care of my garden: making sure it is neat keeps away pests from eating it up, and spraying water every morning during the dry season is what makes the garden grow bigger. My husband has chickens, and I made use of their poop as fertilizer for my garden, which makes it grow faster.

I love vegetables so much, so I had lots of them in my former apartment, but here I am still trying to make sure the soil is safe to plant, which I have the seeds for already. I am getting the soil ready for planting for now.

I just got a new hoe and rake to start my garden back, because I made use of buckets in my former garden, but here I have the real garden all to myself, so yes, I am a garden lover.
