If you had the power to create a single law in your country right now, what would it be?

If I had the power to create a single law in my country right now, it would be that "All churches should have a license or a professional counselor, and any counselor who is found to be gender-biased should have their license seized and never to practice it anywhere in the country or if found still practicing privately or under any firm will be faced with jail terms" I know my law may sound petty but the recent happenings around me have ignited this. Maybe my decision is based on the fact that I am a guidance counselor in making and have seen the havoc many worship centres are causing or have caused in society to which I am sure that if a counselor had caused this much havoc many of them would have been sued based on the professional ethics guiding them.

I think it's high time many pastors who mount the pulpit understand that just because they are pastors doesn't give them the right or authority to be relationship or marriage coaches because many of them are biased and gender biased in their teachings.

Many religious marriages are facing crises today, the women in these homes are the ones facing the heat of these failed marriages and when they are asked why they didn't leave, or why they didn't inform anyone, they always said "They told their pastors and their pastors said they should endure, keep praying, and be submissive enough" but tomorrow when it finally escalates and gets to the public ears, they still blame these women.

In today's homes, women are not allowed to make a decisions by themselves because "they are married" and so needs their husbands' approval, it more or less looks like they live for their husbands and the men of God who they run to still go ahead to affirm that their lives are for their husbands and not for themselves anymore because they are married.

I have heard stories and it keeps me wondering, why can't there be a law that any church that doesn't have a professional and licensed counsellor should cease to operate because many pastors do more harm than good in many homes today, and that is because of much ignorance.

In today's world, the church teaches submission in marriage more than they teach love, and they never hold these men accountable for their treacherous actions. A man is seen violating his daughters and the church or the pastors tells the wife to pray for her husband instead of going to the right authority, an husband is seen beating his wife and when he is reported, the pastors comes up with "The devil is at work" pray for your home so you don't lose it or blame the woman for not being a good wife that is why she gets beaten by her husband instead of holding the man accountable for his actions.

We still have churches who refuses women from climbing up the pulpit or playing any important role in the church because she is a woman and her role is meant to be in the kitchen or her home and supposed to be behind her husband and listen to men talk but not allowed to talk because she is a woman.

My country is obsessed with having women cower, so there is a need to start abolishing this mindset and it should start from our worship centers because they play a key role in our society today especially in my country.
