Everyone needs a safe haven. There are times when life gets overwhelming. We've all been there. In such moments, it feels like you're going to break down. Some feel like they are drowning is so much.

Life is filled with so many stressors. We are all going about different things, hustling to make money and build a better life for ourselves. The stress can pile up to the point where we just need a safe haven from it all.
A safe haven must not necessarily be a place. It can be a person, it can be a thing, or it can be an activity. In fact, it could be anything. As long as it gives you peace, as long as it's an escape from stressors, as long as it makes you feel safe, it's your safe haven.
My safe haven is movies. I'm a huge fan of movies. I do have overwhelming days often. Days when I just want to disconnect, relax and recover. More importantly, days when I just want to escape problems or at least forget about them. Movies are that escape for me.
Movies have a way of bringing me to another world for a moment. In that moment, I'm engrossed in what is happening in it. I'm fascinated. Scene after scene, episode after episode, I get engrossed. It makes me forget about everything else that may have kept me in an overwhelmed state. You'll be surprised by what a good, captivating movie can do to you.
Most times, when I get home after a hectic day, I just watch a good movie to relax. Sometimes I binge watch, especially during the weekends when I just want to recover from the stress of the week.
It could be sci-fi movie, a thriller, rom com or even action. As long as that move had an interesting plot, I'm delving into it.
Why this is such a safe haven for me is because when you watch a good movie, your mind isn't focused on anything else. You're just focused on the movie. I would be busy trying to figure out what's happening in the movie. This takes my mind away from the problems I'm probably facing in real life. That kind of distraction gives you clarity of mind most of the time.
With a clear mind, I'm be able to figure out how to go about whatever issues are bothering me.
