My sincerest condolences @daviduman I've been there when I buried my mother in the summer of 2024 after coming to terms with her to put away all our petty differences behind us and restore our relationship as it should. In 2023 I lost my forever roommate and best friend to cancer. I still keep her remains until the day I pass on and be buried together.
It hurts. Let God help you slowly fill that void that your parents left.
