Rest is something that I believe each of us has a different definition of, For others, it's traveling, going out, being around noise and movement and alot of activity, for others, it's something more subtle, for me too it quite time, and I have never had need apologized for that.
If I want to truly rest, to truly turn off from the world, and just be me, there are three things that works well for me each and every time and there are , My pastor's books, Christian music and sleep. This is my combination and it works for me 100%.

My Image
I always prefer to books written by my pastor, Pastor Adeboye, the way the man writes is soothing, It is not only about the information or the theology it is deeper than that, I feel like something is being aligned in me when I read his books, like as if what is broken is being put back into one piece, I always look forward to reading, and I always come out of my reading session more grounded than when I entered it.
Then the Christian music is non negotiable, so I don't play it in the background without paying attention to it, I do listen to it , This is something that is difficult to describe exactly with words, It fills something within me that I can't explain, worship music has a settling in your spirit that I don't get with any other type of music, this is because it feels like filling your spirit, Its interior is being filled up as though it were a manhole cover, You are reminded of things that you would otherwise forget in the midst of everyday noise, and i need that on a daily basis and I don't hesitate to give it to myself.
And then there is sleep.
My cousin sisters have a saying about me and it is that if sleep were a person, that person would be me, I laughed when they first said it, but they are not wrong, I love sleep. A solid, deep, restful sleep in which you wake up feeling like a new and improved person, this is not laziness, it's a recovery, your body repairs itself then, your mind works differently and when you wake up after a good sleep you are different throughout the day, I feel like I believe in sleep just like some people believe in having a full meal, It's necessary and I do treat it that way.
Also, I don't feel guilty about any of this, not one bit, I don't have to work for rest. I need it, just like I need water and food, Reading, worshiping, sleeping is not me being lazy, not being involved in life. It's me making sure I have something to bring back to life when the rest comes.
You cannot pour from an empty cup. I keep mine full.

“If sleep were a person, that person would be me”—I found that really funny 😂—but rest is undoubtedly necessary; it’s not a luxury, but a real necessity for maintaining good health. That’s why we shouldn’t feel guilty—quite the opposite: we should be grateful that we can sleep and rest without alarm clocks or reproaches.
