Her Safety, Our Law: #280

Actually, I have been thinking about this question from @irenenavarroart for about two days now, and I think each question is captivating and engaging. I actually really enjoyed the reflection exercises:

.

If I had the power to create just one law in my country right now, it would be a law that protects dignity in every workplace, home, and within society, and more importantly, safeguards the rights of women everywhere. Too often, women are seen as vulnerable or fragile, and many individuals take advantage of that—in workplaces, at home, and even within communities. This must change.

This law would strictly prohibit all forms of harassment, intimidation, and abuse—whether physical, verbal, emotional, or sexual—especially against women. It would ensure that any women who is abused in any way is protected and that offenders are held accountable by the law without delay. No women should suffer in silence, or be put in induced fear or even feel powerless.

I would make sure that under this law, I would create safe and confidential channels where victims can report abuse without fear of losing their jobs or being stigmatized. Employers and individuals who violate this law would face serious consequences, not mere warnings.

More importantly, this law would promote respect, equality and accountability. Leadership should never be an excuse for oppression. Protecting women's dignity is not just a women's issue—it is a societal responsibility.

A safe women builds a safe society.

NOW THE SECOND PROMPT:

When Silence Breaks: Standing Up to Abuse.

Yes, I have experienced abusive behavior from someone close to my daily life—a former boss. He was known for his harsh words and controlling attitude, especially towards women who refused his inappropriate advances. Despite his family, he constantly made others feel uncomfortable, and many employees eventually resigned because they could no longer endure his behavior.

I stayed longer than most, partly because of his lovely wife, who once pleaded with me to help improve the company's customer relationships. I gave my best at work, but instead of appreciation, I received constant criticism and hurtful words. Over time, it began to affect my confidence, my happiness, and even my performance at work. I no longer felt like myself.

One morning, everything changed. He came in angrily as usual and began shouting. This time, I spoke up. When he tried to intimidate me physically, I stood my ground and made it clear I would not tolerate it any longer. I even threatened him that I would resign. For the first time, he backed down and stylishly went into his office, I was derm sure, he was having a serious think— and later he apologized.

That moment taught me the power of self-worth and boundaries. I eventually left the job, but I left stronger. Sometimes, finding your voice is the beginning of reclaiming your peace.

This is my response to the @ladiesofhive community contest—Round #280.

Thank you @irenenavarroart for the reflective process.

SEE YOU ALL WITH MORE REFLECTIONS AND EXPERIENCES.🙏♥️🫂

Protecting women should be a priority for countries. I'm sorry you had an abusive boss; I'm glad you stood up to him because it's not fair, and the laws should protect you from that.
