Importance Of Self Care For Women.

Self Care is an intentional act of taking care of oneself which includes taking care of emotional, physical, mental and spiritual well-being. This involves taking a deliberate effort in engaging in activities that promotes relaxation, rejuvenation and overall. Women often prioritize the needs of others over their well-being, sacrificing their times for the sake of their families, most especially, friends, colleagues etc., while neglecting themselves and who they used or ought to be. This, at the end of the day makes some fall into depression, low self-esteem, and exhaustion.

It's however paramount for women to rediscover themselves by embracing self care.


How can women achieve self care will be discussed in this article.

Self care should be a deliberate efforts that women should nurture by involving themselves with the following;

Physical Self Care; This involves healthy habits like eating nutritious food that will nourish the body. Some women, especially nursing mothers and wives will only eat after their families members (husbands and children) are satisfied which are usually left overs.
Also, exercise body i.e swimming, dancing, yoga etc will put body to shape.

Women should also engage in activities that will make them happy, for instance, sporting activities, games, going to relaxation centre. etc. On physical self care, I will also recommend sleep, I mean getting enough sleep every day will help mind and body to be recharged.

Mental Self Care; This is another essential self care for women as it helps to reduce stress and helps in building emotional resilience and increase self awareness. One of the means by which mental self care can be achieved is by having self compassion, be kind to oneself, understanding oneself and being patient to oneself. On this aspect, women should take their personal growth compulsory like paying and attending classes that is germane to their field or career, and then surrounding and seeking help from right people.

Emotional Well being; Under this, women should learn to say no to some people, that is when you need rest yourself, you should say no to parties and functions, not all functions are necessary to attend. This will help to set healthy boundaries to others in order to protect your time, energy and emotion.

Lastly, it is healthy for women to take break when it seems you are loosing it, i.e go on vacation, appreciate nature, give back to the society etc.

Self Care isn't just a mere say, but an activity which requires a spontaneous actions which have been discussed above under various sub headings like physical, emotional and mental self care.
