Be patient with your emotions

Good day, amazing people of the Hive blockchain. Welcome back to my blog. It is another edition in the #ladiesofhive community topic: how do you recover from emotional pain or grief?

As humans, there will come times when things will be very difficult for us. We will feel like the world is coming to any end We are seriously down because our emotions are hurt. I understand how painful the situation can be, but we have to get to understand that our emotions are part of the things that make us human. There is nothing wrong for us to be emotional; what matters is how we handle our emotions. Emotional pain is always painful; if not handled well, it may affect one's mental health and well-being. There are many things that can make someone emotional: the loss of a beloved one, rejection and trauma.

If I say I have not been through emotional pain, I will be lying. I have been through emotional pains. The death of my dad put me in a very emotional state. When I heard about his death, my body system stopped functioning. It was the greatest shock of my life. At that point, nothing about life interested me. I was just on my own, crying out of my eyes over the death of my dad. I was isolating myself from people. I was so heartbroken I couldn’t believe that my dad was no more. I try my best to stop being emotional; it is not easy. From time to time, when I remember the memories I share with my dad, I will feel sad and emotional.

How I was able to recover from emotional pain

It is not an easy thing to recover from emotional pain; it takes time for one to overcome emotional pain.

I have to accept my fate: after a meditation about life, I get to understand that everyone must die, that I should never allow my dad's death to depress me, that I should be strong for my mom and sister, that no matter how long I grieve, my dad will never come, and that I have to accept my fate, that my dad has gone to meet his creator and that there is nothing I can do.

My friend is another reason why I was able to overcome my emotional pain. They were always there for me to advise and encourage me. They are always ready to give me a listening ear. From there, I started opening up to my friends, and they helped me to heal my emotional pain.

Since I started practising self-care, it has really helped me to take care of my emotions. I create time for us and engage only in activities that make me laugh and give me peace of mind. Self-care is very important.

I was not harsh on myself. I understand the fact that healing from emotional pain takes time. I was so patient with my healing process. When it comes to healing, it takes time, courage and determination.

Remember that emotional pain is part of life, and it is very important to heal from emotional pain because if we don’t heal, it will keep hurting us.

I can only imagine how tough it must have been for you... The loss of a loved one can shatter us, but like you said, we should allow ourselves to heal over time. It's nice that you have caring friends who helped you through...

My heart goes out for your loss, the hardest part will always be accepting they are no longer, it's a huge blow... I am glad you have had a very supportive friend throughout your grieving. Sometimes just having someone to listen is all we need...

Thank you for sharing your advice 🙏

You reminded me of the loss of father, he passed away sudden in a terrible accident. I grieved for years. As the eldest I kept myself busy by caring for my mom and siblings making sure they got back on their feet. But in my heart still harbored the unresolved void and pain of that loss for a long time until he came to me in my dreams, the same young man I remembered him as, having not aged at all. In those dreams we chatted, we hugged and he was proud of me and I told him that I will always love him.
I said goodbye.
And that was enough.
