Do you like celebrating your own birthday? Or are you more of a celebrator of other people's birthdays? What would you like to do for your next birthday?
Hello gentlemen and #ladiesofhive. Happy new week. I welcome you to my blog. There are special moments in our lives, but for me, birthdays are the best of them all. A birthday reminds us of our roots, achievements, highs, and lows in retrospect. My birthday period is a time of reflection for me. It takes me down memory lane from childhood, as far as I can remember, to my present age. It leaves me with a deep, surreal reflection about life. My yesteryears, present, and future.

One of my birthday celebrations
Growing up, I remember my parents celebrating our birthdays with friends and family, especially the brethren. Then, I will always remind my aunties and everyone around me about it. Sometimes, I want my mummy to sleep in our room, telling us stories surrounding my birth and my siblings. I will give her no space until the morning of the event. Other children and I will gather, sing, play, show gratitude to God for another year, and exhaust ourselves with food in thanksgiving.

Celebrating An Employee's Birthday
However, things changed immediately when I launched my career. I started adapting to new lifestyles and better ways of celebrating my birthdays. To make matters complicated, I became a custodian of people. I was in charge of celebrating people's birthdays. Clicking calendars every day to check when employees' birthdays are due and gallantly preparing for numerous birthdays.
In my workplace, we celebrate at least three birthdays every week. So, if I’m always preparing and celebrating other people’s birthdays, I think I am supposed to get more attention celebrating my birthday, especially if I see to the success of those celebrations.
My normal birthday routine happens around breaktime, while the party after party continues after office work, where the mystery DJ with his sound system enters the prepared ground unannounced and wakes everybody’s moment with blasts of gratitude. Furthermore, best wishes from employees flood the area with a home celebration with my family after work, and a final celebration with our local church.

Celebrating a teen's birthday in our local church
For my next birthday, if wishes were horses, I would love to take at least ten of our local church teens to an eatery together with my family or a shopping mall. This would be after the normal office birthday culture. That would be my little way of showing gratitude to God and also giving back to society.
In conclusion, birthdays are great reminders of our years in history, the bridges we have built or burned, the challenges and victories, the paths we have crossed, and the future opportunities that await our preparedness.
