There was a time I thought being busy meant I was doing well in life. If I was always working, always thinking, always trying to get things done, then I felt like I was moving forward. But slowly, I started to notice something was off. My body felt tired more often, my mind was not as clear, and even small things started to feel heavy.
I didn’t pay attention at first. I just kept going. That’s how many of us are, we ignore small signs until they become bigger problems.
My parents used to say something simple, “Health is wealth.” I heard it many times growing up, but I never really sat down to understand it. It sounded like one of those common sayings adults repeat. But now, I see it differently.
There was a period when I was not resting properly, eating at the wrong time, and always on my phone or laptop. I told myself it was part of hustling, part of trying to make things work. But instead of getting stronger, I was getting weaker without noticing.
One day, I just felt completely drained. Not sick in a serious way, but not okay either. That was when it hit me. What is the point of chasing success if your body and mind can’t carry it?
Since then, I’ve been trying, not perfectly, but trying to take my health more seriously. Simple things like resting when I’m tired, drinking enough water, stepping away from work sometimes. These things don’t look big, but they matter.
My mother always said, “Your body is your first home.” If you don’t take care of it, where will you live? That line stayed with me. Because no matter what you achieve in life, if your health is failing, everything becomes harder.
It’s easy to get caught up in chasing money, goals, and recognition. But health should not be the thing we remember only when it starts to fail.
I’m still learning how to balance it. Some days I forget, some days I do better. But one thing I know now is this, nothing you are building will last long if you are not okay.
So in everything I’m doing, I try to remind myself, don’t forget your health. Because at the end of the day, you need yourself to enjoy whatever you are working for.
