First time writing in Korean😁. Koreanhivevillage contest #10.

Pleasant greetings everyone 👋

This week, the Korean hive village community has initiated a very nice and engaging prompt for its members. We are tasked with learning the Korean language.

This is actually very exciting for me because some months back, I had wanted to be adventurous and so I had used the Duolingo app on my phone, to check for other languages besides Spanish which was the language I was already learning at the time.

When I saw Korean language listed there, my curiosity was hooked and I signed up to learn it but I was not able to progress because Korean letters and numbers are symbols that look almost the same. I had to pause it and hurry back to my Spanish lessons but I guess fate wants me to learn Korean language and so I am willing to give it a shot this time around.

Prompt #1: My Introduction in Korean language

My name is Becky and my hive username is beckyroyal. I am a beautiful single lady in my mid thirties from South-Eastern Nigeria. I love to read, write, tell stories, sing and cook. I am God fearing, humble, down to earth, lovable and charming. I currently reside in Lagos State, one of the busiest States in Nigeria and I am a teacher by profession in the sciences. I major in Biology Education and I am good at what I do….thank you

This took me about thirty minutes to write down correctly from my Deepl app after translating my introduction and sadly there was no power supply too. All I had was a torchlight but I'm glad it came out well.

Prompt #3: Introduce your country's culture or food

Hmm, this is not quite straight forward as my country is multi-ethnic, with diverse cultures and various delicacies. What I will be doing though will be to introduce my tribe's food and culture.

I am from the South-Eastern part of Nigeria. My dialect is called Ibibio. The Ibibios are known for having a rich cultural heritage. We are a people that cherish colours a lot. You will often find our traditional attires to be colourful and exciting.

Moving to the cultural foods of my tribe , my people are known for their high taste in leafy vegetables. Our soups and delicacies are very mouth-watering, sumptuous and nutritious.

These soups are usually eaten with swallow like eba, fufu, semovita or pounded yam.
Also, we eat rice, beans, yam, spaghetti, maize and many other foods.

We have a well-known specialty and that is being proficient in the kitchen.

Another very good quality of my tribe is that we are a very hospitable people. We love peace.

I am glad to be part of their rich cultural heritage. Too bad I'm not so fluent in the Ibibio dialect because I was born and brought up in the City of Lagos. Maybe someday, I'll think about learning the language…hopefully 😁.
