Day 2: The Heartbeat of Han: Exploring Korean Culture and Daily Life

Hi Hive friends

Welcome back to Day 2 of my little Korean series. Yesterday I talked about Korea as a whole, the mix of modern and tradition. Today I wanna go deeper into their culture and daily life like, how do people actually live there, way of life?

So first thing, Korean culture is all about respect. Seriously, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a country where age and seniority matter so much in everyday life. They have like different ways of speaking based on who you’re talking to. It’s not just about being polite it’s about being really honoring the person in front of you. You bow when you greet, even with friends sometimes. It's kind of cool honestly.

Another thing I love is how family oriented their society is. Parents and grandparents play a huge role in the house. Even young adults usually stay with their families until they get married or longer There’s a strong bond not just love, but duty and respect. That’s a part of their Confucian roots.

Now, if we talk daily life Korea is fast-paced. Especially in cities like Seoul. People are busy, always on the move, and super fashion forward. But even in that rush, there’s a rhythm. Cafes are packed, people enjoy meals together eating alone is not that common actually, and everything is so organized.

Oh and food... don’t get me started They eat a lot of side dishes (called banchan) with every meal. Kimchi is always there, of course, but they have soooo many more. Meals are more like an experience than just eating. And it’s always shared that’s a big part of Korean culture too.

One more thing I noticed is how education and work are super intense. Kids go to school during the day, then attend hagwons (private academies) till late. Adults work long hours too. It’s very competitive, which can be stressful, but it also creates a culture of ambition.

But still, they find time for things like karaoke (noraebang), festivals, and skincare rituals Balance in their own way.

Anyway, that’s my little view into Korean culture and everyday life. It’s not perfect, but it’s beautiful in its own way.

Let me know what surprised you the most about Korean lifestyle!
Tomorrow, we explore their amazing nature and landscapes
