The importance investing in Hive instead of extracting #HPUD
Rewards are an important part of the Hive platform. This makes it very different from traditional web2 social media. But this should not be the only reason people are here.
If more users continuously extract rewards than they stake into it, Hive will eventually face a serious problem I think. A platform where more value leaves than enters cannot remain sustainable. If we continue doing this, there may come a time when there is very little left to extract.
Sadly the weekly @hivetoday reports often show more Hive has been extracted than powered up (except for the last report, hurray!).
This is why powering up is so important.
The monthly Hive Power Up Day #HPUD is a great initiative that motivates Hivers to stake their power. It encourages users to think beyond short term rewards and focus on the long term success of the ecosystem that makes those rewards possible.
My contributions to Hive
I've joined many of the Hive Power Up Days. But even if I miss them, I stake the rewards to grow my account. I do have the luxury that I never have a reason to withdraw any of the rewards.
I'm a manual curator; I spend time to check out posts, upvote them and often interact with the other Hivers. I also try to contribute to the growth of the platform through several projects.
One of those projects is my Cycling Community, where cycling enthusiasts can share their rides, experiences, and passion for the sport.
I am also the creator of the @Topcomment project. Through this initiative, we reward and encourage Hivers who invest time and effort into writing high quality comments. Meaningful interaction is very important for a social media platform.
And recently, I launched my own tool: the Hive Account Health Dashboard 📊.
This dashboard helps to evaluate whether the accounts I want to support are also contributing to the Hive ecosystem. It provides insight into factors such as engagement, interaction, extraction of funds and downvotes.
As a curator I want to support users who help Hive grow. Accounts that only focus on extracting rewards while showing little or no interaction with are unlikely to receive my support in the future.
I believe that if we focus more on creating and adding value and supporting those who do that too, Hive will find the way up again. Feel free to use my Hive Account Health Dashboard to check out your own account and those you want to support.
Hive Power Up
And now the Power Up itself.
I've configured my author rewards to 100% power up, so those get staked directly. But I also have some other sources of income which makes that I have over 100 Hive to power op this month again; 119.266 to be precise!
I started this month with 53.898 HP and after this power up I ended up with 55,975 HP.
I also climbed 12 spots in the Hivebuzz ranking from place 392 to 379.
Just a few more places up and I'll be on the page with the first Orca's 😀
That will be my next goal; becoming an orca on Hive. I will need about 5.000 Hive to reach that, so I'll be there soon!

someone should make a leaderboard for extraction and track their stats showing how they interact and engage with the platform and various communities.
I've been thinking about that, but I also have my doubts by doing that.
That's why I created my tool that anyone can use if they are interested in knowing whether someone adds value or not.
Great work on your continued growth on Hive. In a way, it's a bit sad given how many thousands of users are active on Hive, breaking into the top 400 doesn't even get you to an Orca yet. This means there are so many small accounts around, proving your point more than in.
Hopefully the attention to the Hive Power Up Day helps to open peoples eyes.

They have been trying to bully me with downvotes and words but it doesn't affect me I've been online for over 25 years
So I've dealt with people like this before it's nothing new

If you didn't know I've been getting downvoted for a long time on Hive
They have been trying to bully me with downvotes and words but it doesn't affect me I've been online for over 25 years
So I've dealt with people like this before it's nothing new
But what they are doing is bad Very badi joined steemit like everyone else thinking it offers freedom but I must say steemit offered much more freedom than Hive does

I hope your post reaches a lot of eyes. I'm guilty for withdrawing my Hive just a few days ago 😂 but I've never powered down ever since I started. I also make sure to distribute my upvotes every day, not for the rewards I receive but to help other accounts. I also try my best to encourage people to do the same but only 1 out of 10 listens. Some of them aren't voting at all. Those accounts also withdraw their earnings as soon as they hit their desired amount. So sad, but what could I do.

If you didn't know I've been getting downvoted for a long time on Hive
They have been trying to bully me with downvotes and words but it doesn't affect me I've been online for over 25 years
So I've dealt with people like this before it's nothing new
But what they are doing is bad Very badi joined steemit like everyone else thinking it offers freedom but I must say steemit offered much more freedom than Hive does

Hello everyone I hope you are all good and well today in this post is some of the evidence to prove my case
If you didn't know I've been getting downvoted for a long time on Hive
They have been trying to bully me with downvotes and words but it doesn't affect me I've been online for over 25 years
So I've dealt with people like this before it's nothing new
But what they are doing is bad Very badi joined steemit like everyone else thinking it offers freedom but I must say steemit offered much more freedom than Hive does
Everyone already knows I only post my own original content I have no need to steal anything from anyone
