In essence, technology has developed significantly in the contemporary world. With this development of technology, online learning has gained popularity in our society. A lot of students are today completing their education in online activities. However, the question arises, whether online learning is superior to offline learning? Or is online learning still the optimal method to help a student in creating his future?
In essence, there are some merits of online learning. Online learning allows a student to study at the comfort of his home. There is no place he has to go. He is able to observe classes on his computer or smartphone. This is time and money saving to most families. Online learning can be a blessing to poor families especially those that live far apart and are unable to attend schools and colleges.
Nonetheless, there are numerous drawbacks of online learning too. The bottom line is that as a student spends several hours before a screen, his eyes become frail and his concentration is reduced. Besides, the internet has been used by most students not to study but to have fun. They watch movies and play games as opposed to studying. This is not at all true. A student should learn to use technology to study and not in case of entertainment.
On the other hand, offline learning is the traditional and most effective way of education. Once a student attends school on a daily basis and sits at the classroom, he gets to learn about discipline. He is taught to respect his teachers. He gets to know how to live in the society with his friends. Through online learning, one can never learn these things. Since in internet based learning a student sits on his or her own in their home and is not able to work on his or her social skills.
Essentially, a teacher can get to know the student in offline learning. In case a student fails to comprehend anything, the teacher could repeat it in person. But in online learning, this personal attention is very limited. And a student can never improve himself, without personal attention.
In addition, I have witnessed in a number of schools and colleges that students who go to school are far more successful in their performance as compared to those students who only study through the internet. Since attending school regularly develops a good habit of learning in a student.
So I think offline learning is much more important and beneficial than online learning. Online learning can be applied as the supplement tool but it cannot entirely substitute offline learning. In order to have a truly educated nation we must make sure that our children attend school on time.
And with that we must ensure that our children go to school day by day. We should not turn them into screen and phone addicts. Only in this case, we will be able to shape a beautiful and educated society in our future. I am very glad to see you here with the community of education.
