A Daily Word in French (#3)

Good day lovelies! i wish you a nice day from here. Today's lesson is very simple! i can bet. Not just that but the best part is how immediately relatable it is especially for non speakers and education lovers.

"Ça va"
This very short phrase or word in french says and means a lot. As i said in the previous blog, french language is very romantic and culture inclined that the words mean deeper than it is when translated, i will teach about translation and rules in a future edition so we would understand better why translations from french could mean more but a spoiler will be: EQUIVALENCE. There is something called EQUIVALENCE when translating from a secondary language and this happens when there is a cultural factor or breach between the two languages so therefore you have to find something that seems similar in your own culture or language that's fit to be an equivalent i.e compensable, similar.

so we move on. "Ça va" is not really a question because people thin k that "Ça va" means how are you or what's up but "Ça va" is a cultural phrase like a social temperature check, it means many things depending on how it is used, how it is pronounced , context, tone and even response!
Do you know that literally translating french to english ca va means it goes because literally ca is translated it and va means go, it is from a conjuagtion of the verb aller which means to go lol you see that french is crazy haha.

"Ça va" has so many uses including casually, you do not need to be engulfed with the french culture to use it properly. you can say "Ça va" when you see a stranger, you can say that as a greeting or as a response either, like a 2 edged sword.
"Ça va"? "Ça va" or oui,"Ça va". oui means yes.
You can also use it when you see a friend both as a greeting or response, whether via texts or calls it does the job.

You caan say "Ça va" to mean its going,
"Ça va" bien = its going well
"Ça ne va pas bien" = its not going well

So when you hear "Ça va"it is not just how are you but something a bit eeper like how are things going with you, it means the person cares to know what is going on around you.
Another similar one is "Ça roule? = is it rolling?
