A Daily Word In French (#16)

Happy weekend to you all my good friends, #hive family and my most esteemed #education lovers, i hope we all have had a blissful week. i am so sorry for skipping lessons, i just could not get myself together to stat writing as i had to do life but right now is a good time because got my health back and also its the weekend, all we've got to do is rest, have fun an enjoy the weekend together. That brings us to the word of today! “Ensemble” means together in French and we are gonna disect everything related to it.

Languages often teach us something about human connection and that is why today’s French word is “Ensemble.” Ensemble means “Together”, together we can conquer anything, including the world. The primary word for "together" in French is ensemble but there are other ways and expressons to say the same thing, remember in previous lessons i have talked about how french has multiple expressions and exceptions as well. These are the best or most common ways to express or translate or use the word.
Common Translations:
Ensemble: This is the standard and mostly used for people or things in a group or with one another (e.g., Ils sont arrivés ensemble – "They arrived together").

En même temps: Used when things happen at the same time (e.g., Ne parlez pas tous en même temps ! – "Don't all speak together!"). literally En meme temps = in same time/at the same time

Tous ensemble: Often used to mean "all together" as a collective group.

Example:

To live together = Vivre ensemble
To work together = Travailler ensemble or Collaborer
Together with... = Avec or Conjointement avec
Get back together = Se remettre ensemble
Pull yourself together! = Ressaisis-toi !
Stick together = Se serrer les coudes (figurative)

Nous apprenons ensemble.
We learn together.

Nous marchons ensemble.
We walk together.

It is a beautiful word because it reflects something true about life. Somehow in a world where capitalism and individualism has been the center of every action so it is hard for people to do things in unity, all we wanna get is the profit which is very wrong, humanity should be the center of all and not profitability. I hope you still remember that very few meaningful journeys are walked alone. Even language learning becomes easier ensemble, so if you are following these small French lessons with me, remember that we are learning together and sometimes that makes the journey more meaningful.
