It is that time of the semester when both the serious and the unserious students trying to read and catch up with their academic books.
But let's not lie, let's not steal; reading academic books is not for the faint-hearted. It takes a lot of discipline and focus from your part.
Because tell me, why is it that when you intend to read, that is when something interesting pops up or you just need to attend to something urgently, and by the time you are done, you don't want to go back to your academic books anymore.
Anyways, like I said, exams are here, not so here anyways, about a month to go and the pressure is everywhere. Even those that act like they don't care are now really proactive. Carryover is nobody's mate.
Lol😅
As a student that I am, I think I'm in a position to recommend some measures for reading when it comes to academic books.
First, I'd advise that you don't start reading a few weeks to the exam, especially if you're a slow learner like me.
Yes, it is even weird that academically, it takes a long while to grasp the concept of whatever I am being taught. It takes me nothing less than reading my slides 5 times before I grasp any concept and another extra time reading before I can start jotting out. But any other books apart from my academic book, I'm a very fast learner.
Now, I was able to discover that part of me early enough that I assimilate really slow when it comes to my academics. Therefore, I don't read while others are reading.
I try to start reading from the beginning of the semester if possible, but it doesn't happen like that most of the time. But you won't catch me reading two weeks to the exam.
Never!
In all of these, there are students who can read a whole semester book in two weeks and still do very well. It all boils down to knowing yourself and what works for you.
Another measure I would advise at this time is to be well-rested. A well-rested brain is one that will function at its best ability.
It is no wonder that students tend to break down during this period. In all of your doings, find a time that is convenient for you and rest.
Trust me, you'd be glad you did.
So far, so good, this has been my best method when it comes to the examination period. I read way ahead and try to rest as much as I can.
What measures do you suggest for someone who is writing an examination or about to write one?
Or what works for you? You can share with me; I would love to read from you.
