Now, who said I don't want to grow up because currently I'm all grown and I could still find myself falling in love with "animations" Lately, I've been really busy with some movies that possess this feeling of not meeting up to my expectation and that always leaves a hole in my heart "like why?".
Firstly I saw a movie and was so upset with the whole production that I had to transfer the aggression to those around me "I'm sorry people" but then to wash all those scenes from my head and be free, I decided to watch an animation that I've been hearing for quite a long time. The positive feedback started roaming in my head, so I had to give it a try.
"The Plot"
"Turning Red" is an American animated fantasy comedy-drama. The movie tells the story of a quirky, confident, and naive thirteen-year-old girl named "Merlin Lee" Mei, a Chinese-Canadian girl. Mei possessed the ability to transform into a red panda whenever she gets too intense or emotional about a thing. The red panda is connected to her family tradition. It's more like genetic stuff.
My Review
Firstly, I haven't been a big fan of animations, but then this particular one brought my mood back to life: "I'm glad it happened." The storyline is incredible: how little girls get excited about teenagehood. I know as girls, we can't just wait to grow up so we can do certain things on our own, visit places, and go to those amazing concerts where our favorite band would be performing.
Turning Red is absolutely an amazing masterpiece, and it's a perfect firm for me. To me, a perfect film is artful and fun at the same to watch, one that keeps me at the edge of my seat waiting for those scenes to unfold one after the other. And Turning Red gave me all those things mentioned above, and that's what made it a perfect movie.
Turning Red isn't just any movie; it's a coming-of-age movie about embracing yourself with the changes that accompany it. From the very beginning, the movie got me hooked to my screen, and not forgetting the "songs" is even the unforgettable part for me. The songs felt real, and I could feel each of them. I can literally sing them in my quiet space.
The film's exploration of family being the most important tree of life, then friendship following suit, and staying true to oneself resonated with me deeply. I laughed hard while watching this movie, and at some point, I found myself crying. And I find myself cheering for the lead cast "Mei" at every point.
Turning Red is a game-changer in the world of animation. I don't see this movie as just a movie, it's a celebration of culture, family, and keeping those friendships together despite the ups and downs. And lastly, the journey of self-discovery.
I'm gonna rate this incredible masterpiece an 8/10.
