Ever seen a revenge movie that kept you on your toes? Well, this is the movie, though old, still fresh in my head. I'm the type that doesn't like watching movies backward, now by that I mean I like watching movies that aren't too old, but then this particular one did a thing to me that I can't resist.
So I saw this movie's trailer on the blue app "Facebook" to be precise, I got attracted by the bravery of the little innocent girl who saw her parents being murdered by a drug dealer, not a single drop of tears from her eyes rather she got this courage from nowhere that enveloped her maybe the thought for survival played a major role. Enough of me.
"Columbiana" tells the story of a young girl named "Cateleya" whose parents were murdered in her presence due to a relationship her father had with a drug baron. Cataleya's father gave her a smart media computer memory card and told her it was her passport, and he wrote out an address for her containing his brother's address in Chicago.
After Cataleya's parents are gunned down, she escapes and seeks asylum at the US embassy. She is later granted a passport to the United States after handing over the memory card to the embassy staff. The embassy tried to transfer her to a foster care system, but Smart Cataleya escaped from the staff to board a train to Chicago.
On arriving in Chicago. She meets her uncle Emilio and asks him to help her become a killer because school can't teach her what she wants to learn.
Fifteen years later, Cataleya grew up to be an accomplished assassin, with her uncle giving her different contracts of people to murder, but then Cataleya, on the other hand, keeps leaving a signature behind every murder she carried out, hoping one day she would attract the man who murdered her parents.
Emilio found out about Cataleya's intentions and asked her to stop to avoid endangering the lives of those close to her, but then she admitted she didn't care, so she continued in the act till the only people in her life were murdered as well. The movie contained a lot of plot twists, but then in the end, Cataleya got the revenge she had always wanted while losing all her loved ones.
The movie was an incredible one. Now, my attraction to this movie was the young Cataleya. The boldness in her eyes gives me goosebumps while watching the movie.
Firstly, looking into your parents' eyes while someone put a gun to their head and pulled the trigger, "well," that isn't the case. Imagine looking at different people shooting at your parents till they both go down on the floor, lifeless. That was what the cataleya saw at a very young age, with her eyes filled with tears, but they didn't drop down her cheeks then, when she finally met her uncle. She couldn't hold her tears any longer, but rather let them out.
I loved the fact that the movie was unpredictable; I couldn't predict the next scene, unlike some movies. It was absolutely an interesting one that kept me glued to my screen.
The bravery I saw in her, the boldness she developed at an early age, and the way she was able to read every atmosphere she finds herself in. The confidence was top-notch. images are screenshots from my phone
I'm gonna rate this movie an 8/10.
