I saw this movie with my friend in the cinema on my birthday in 2022. We went to the park and walked, feeling the nice breeze as it blew, riding on that swing with my hands holding the handles very tightly with the fear of falling off. I stopped every activity and decided to do something different when my friend insisted we go to the cinema instead. Besides, it was gonna be her first time, and I wanted to be the one who she experienced it with "for the trophy."
We saw the list of movies airing that day and the only one that grabbed our attention was "Brotherhood" because of the cast that was featured in it like "Falz the Bad Guy" a rapper and songwriter going into the Nollywood industry, I've seen him in stared in other movies and I really loved them. So I was eager to see what he had in stock for this movie, so we picked up the ticket for this movie and went into the cinema hall.
The movie tells the story of twin brothers Wale (falz) and Akin (Tobi Bakre) who got orphaned when their parents were killed on New Year's Day, on their way from cross-over service. They were raised by their grandmother.
After fighting to survive on the streets of Lagos, Nigeria. They developed different ambitions and goals, which landed them on opposite sides of the law; one became a police officer who hunts down bad guys, while the other became one of the bad guys.
The bond of brotherhood is been put to an ultimate test when Wale joins the task force team in charge of hunting down Akin and his gang.
I've never been a fan of Nigerian movies till recently when I was left amazed at the way the Nollywood industry keeps improving. Currently, the kind of movies that are produced are known to be cinema standards, and that is the major reason that I keep getting attracted to Nollywood movies.
Firstly the producer and director did a great job in putting this masterpiece together to get this incredible result. Going deep into the movie, I appreciate the storyline and the stakes this movie presented, it portrays the hustle young people face on the streets and how two brothers can be different things while growing in the same environment, now you can say it boils down to the individual "yeah it is" but growing up on the street isn't easy at all.
I loved how the movie showed the magnitude of each brother's choice, the coloring of every scenes gave the feeling of how death could be around the corner of your house. This movie kept me on the edge of my seat as I watched every scene show up with my mind thinking what the next action would be.
From the beginning of the movie, I was immediately drawn to the intense world the movie created, and what truly stood out for me in this movie was the action sequences.
I'm gonna rate this movie a 7/10. I loved the movie because none of us expected it to end that way, but then they surprised us at the ending, and that was the most incredible thing to do.
