Cine TV Contest #33 - The King's man.

Source

The third instalment in the Kingsman film series, The King's Man, is a historical spy-action film that was released in 2021. The film, which centres on Europe during and before World War 1 (also known as the Great War), tells a fictionalized account of the events leading up to the conflict.

It narrates the tale of a man who lost his wife while visiting a concentration camp in South Africa during the Boer war and attempting to uphold the vow he made to his dying wife to keep his kid out of combat.

The movie made me realize...

The movie helped me to realize how a parent will go to such lengths to safeguard his children. The father in the film, Orlando Oxford, the Duke of Oxford, was portrayed by actor Ralph Fiennes. He fought valiantly to keep his son Conrad Oxford (Harris Dickinson), from enlisting in the military.

But despite his best efforts to use his personality to divert his son from the battle, his son was still able to join the conflict by adopting the identity of a lesser-ranking soldier.

Why it is my favourite?

Because it makes me think of the arguments I used to have with my dad anytime I wanted to try anything new, this movie is one of my favourites.

As an illustration, when I wanted to work in a factory after graduating from high school, my father opposed me and stated I was too young to work in a factory, especially given the risks involved. I debate with my father over the fact that some of my friends were making good money working in the factory. My father makes a similar argument to Orlando, who thinks his son wasn't prepared for war and shouldn't fight in it.

The terrible incident

I followed my father's advice, and two years later I was given the opportunity to work at a factory—a facility that produced candy. It was at that point that I began to see how difficult the outside world was. Due to a terrible tragedy that occurred, I almost lost my life or almost became crippled.

The technicians were maintaining an upper delivery conveyor as I was working in the chewing gum portion of the plant; I'm not sure how it happened, but it tipped and dropped on my back. The engine landing on my back made the situation worse; for a little period, I lost feeling in my legs, and it was so terrible that I needed to be taken right away to the clinic for treatment.

The truth of what my father had been saying struck me at that very moment.

Other reason why it was my favourite

Aside from the dramatized accuracy of pre- and post-World war I European events, I have chosen to suggest the film because it imparts many important lessons.

As shown in the screenshots below.

Conclusion

As my father did and as Orlando did, a good father always wants the best for his child or children and strives to keep them as safe as possible.
