Pet Sematary is a 1989 horror classic based on the famous Stephen King novel of the same name The film is directed by Mary Lambert and is considered one of the works that left a clear mark in the world of horror films.
The story revolves around the Creed family who moves to a new home in a small town in Maine They soon discover an old pet cemetery behind their house Things take a terrifying turn when their young son is exposed to a tragedy and the father Louis Creed Dale Midkiff resorts to burying his son in this mysterious cemetery in the hope that he will return to life only to discover that the dead are no longer what they were before.
Dale Midkiff gives a compelling performance as Louis Creed successfully embodying the feelings of pain despair and indecision Denise Crosby as Rachel Creed added emotional depth to the film while Fred Gwynne was great as the wise and mysterious neighbor Judd Cranday who tries to warn the family of the dangers lurking in the cemetery.
Mary Lambert succeeded in creating an atmosphere of true terror and constant tension as the dark and mysterious atmosphere increased the sense of dread and the story written by Stephen King is considered one of the most powerful horror stories as it combines psychological and tragic horror and raises deep questions about death and loss where the acting performance was strong and poignant which contributed to enhancing the films impact and emotional depth.
Although the film was produced in the late 1980s some of the visual effects may look outdated by todays standards which may affect the modern viewing experience and some scenes are a bit slow which may reduce the suspense and excitement at times.
Pet Sematary 1989 is a classic horror film worth watching especially for fans of Stephen Kings works and fans of old horror Despite some minor flaws the film remains one of the distinctive works that succeeds in conveying a terrifying and profound story about death loss and the consequences of trying to change nature The strong performances of the heroes and the eerie atmosphere make this film an unforgettable horror experience.
Although it is a horror movie, at the same time it was very sad, my mom said that the writer Stephen King likes to put children in most of his movies and they suffer or are the victims, as in The Shining.
I like this version better than a more current one I think there is and the book is great...since that is the origin of the p
