Easy Pauses, Difficult Stay: Reviewing The K-Drama "Motel California"

I think I had too high of expectations for this series at the time I added it to my watchlist because it had two of my favourite faces, the guy from "Marry My Husband" and the lady from "The Story Of Park's Marriage Contract", both left a good impression so I expected more on this.

My first warning for whoever is yet to see this series is to lower expectations, it really went down below what I expected and that contributed greatly to the easy pauses I had and difficulty to continue the series. I'm in the 8th episode out of 12 episodes and I can't bring myself to keep up.

"Motel California" is one of the many kdrama series released this year in January, a 12 episode romance series. The series has a cast with "Lee Se-yeong" and "Na In-woo" as the main characters. It says romance series but I'm at the 8th episode, but I can't feel the romance just yet.

The story is about A lady who was raised in a motel, tries to live a life away from the countryside but have to go through twists and turns as she reunites with her first love after her return 12 years later. I bet the storyline will definitely reminds viewers of "Love Next Door".

Gambling in to see the series regardless of the similar storyline was mainly because of the character but somehow, they succeeded in making me not want to see their next series especially if they will be together, the romance was way too slow, no chemistry between them.

I also didn't like how the female lead had a very deep grudge against her father right from when she was ten, it's quite unreal but it's a bit understandable as she lost her mother that time. But I wonder how someone would grow fine with such grudge towards her ever still loving dad.

Why I hate that part of her story was because it is affecting every other person around her because of how she thinks, especially her first love who is still madly in love with her. Not accepting love because you've failed to love your dad for his mistake in the past was really off putting for me.

I actually love how unchanging the love of the guy is towards her and he never let her constant rejection affect his job as veterinarian. I think the only exciting part of his role in this series for me is whenever he is doing his job, I guess maybe I've come to enjoy watching animals get treated.

I also appreciate the supporting charcter "Kim Tae-hyung" who could have passed excellently as the lead character because of his happy vibes in getting viewers attention. He is a work partner who pretends to a boyfriend to our female lead, even I think he's too good for her. This has to be one story I didn't even want them to be together.
