Since this week we are asked to talk about a favorite Disney movie, I didn’t want to write about a movie I have reviewed before if not, I would have talked about SPIES IN DISGUISE again, hehe. Well, I don’t particularly have a favorite Disney movie, most of them were totally worth the watch. So, today I want to talk about one of my old favorite Disney movie titled The Lion King. This movie is a classic work of art that combines emotional depth, humor and of course the visuals! Everything was just on point. The movie was directed by Roger Allers and Rob Minkoff. This movie was focused on a young cub, Simba, who learns to overcome so many obstacles to become a great king in an African jungle. It is a 90s movie.
The film’s animation is still very impressive even after many years. The beautiful landscapes and detailed characters just made the whole ”Pride Lands” thingy feel real. While making a research on this movie since it’s been a while, I discovered the story was inspired by Shakespeare’s Hamlet (reminds me of @ Justfavour that talks about him most of the time, hehe). The movie mixes serious topics like death and duty with fun moments, thanks to Timon and Pumbaa's carefree "Hakuna Matata" (no worries) attitude. If you’ve seen this movie, you will agree with me that those two guys were just in their own worlds. And the voice cast? Gosh! It was perfect.
I enjoyed all the songs that were used in the movie, they were just right! Elton John and Tim Rice's songs, "Circle of Life" and "Can You Feel the Love Tonight," are epic. And the background soundtrack makes it even better. You know those part when they argue, laugh, walk, the soundtrack just gives you the right feeling at every point. Did you notice, the movie is also well-paced, not too long or short, it was just on point.
If there was any issue I had with the movie, it is that some characters, like the hyenas, feel a bit wickedly cartoonish, lol. I just hate it whenever they show them because I know they are always up to no good. But overall, The Lion King is an amazing Disney movie with a powerful story about the animal kingdom, particularly the lion prides. It's one of Disney's best if you ask me. As a child, I was totally engaged at every point while watching this movie but even as an adult, I realized I even enjoyed it more because I could understand some things better than I did as a child and it makes it more fun.
Choosing to talk about this Disney movie doesn’t mean it is my most favorite movie, but it is one movie that is worth taking that place for me. I don’t have any particular favorites but I have a lot of Disney movies I enjoyed watching both as a child and as an adult. And if I’m to rate the LION KING movie, I’ll give it a rating of 9/10.
Thanks for reading through. ❤️
Thank you, Amie. 🥰
