Also, Aemond shouldn't have followed Lucerys when he was heading Back home. This was part of the reasons the dragons acted on their own and wasn't listening to either of them.
Dragons are always hungry for war. So when they saw that they were being pursued, they acted in order to save their owner. But Vagar was triggered and didn't even care about the prince on the dragon. 😢
Yeah I think as carnivores the dragons love the chase and to fight. Sometimes I wondered if the dragons were in-tune with their rider's true feelings or if it was just an example of two young men with dangerous wild beasts they could not properly control. The way they depict dragon-riding on the show is beautiful -- probably more so than even the previous series Game of Thrones. That one shot of Vagar overshadowing them in the rain was stunning but also terrifying.
