Hello and welcome to the 19TH edition of Cine TV Community Spotlight. The Cine TV Spotlight Series has begun in a bid to boost engagement and interaction in the community and showcase the work of deserving authors.

And it’s all simple. At the end of every week, we spotlight works by authors based on the content, originality, style, and word count. It is not a contest but just our way of creating exposure for the works we enjoyed throughout the week and boosting exceptionally written content by our authors. Simply put, give it your best and have fun while at it, and then we showcase your work here.

So, in no particular order, here are the authors spotlighted for this week:

Title: NYAD

Now the movie comes in at two hours, but the time flew by, moving efficiently through each attempt at that monumental swim. And we're shown just enough from each of her attempts to understand the hardship and also what caused the necessity to terminate a swim. There are also flashbacks we watch play out from Nyad's childhood, showcasing events
that shape who she is now, which also helped to determine her mindset as she is swimming these precarious waters.

Title: No Way Up

Maybe a 7-year-old would enjoy this movie, but they should have known better that not only 7-year-olds would watch it. To the best of my knowledge, sharks don’t just attack people. Okay, let’s have it that sharks attack people without smelling blood or anything. About 3 characters got killed by a shark without even doing anything, but the main character who was right in front of the shark, the shark literally came close to her, looked at her, and swam away. How is that even possible?

Title: Henry Danger: The Movie || An Absolute Waste of Time?

henry.jpg

Throughout the course of seeing this movie, I wondered if I was watching something straight out of Walt Disney Animation Studios because to reiterate, I was totally disappointed. The plot is a ludicrous one, some scenes were extremely tacky and to top it all up, the scenes were all very predictable. Not to sound offensive but I believe the director, producers and everyone who contributed to make this movie a reality could have either done better or done nothing at all.

Title: Suits

Drama and entertainment aside, Suits teaches about life in its scripts. There's always something to learn. There are characters you'll learn management from, like Jessica and Robert; the ones that'll make you understand what it means to be truly supportive, like Rachael and Donna; characters that show what it takes to win, like Harvey and Mike; the ones that express the value of honesty and emotions, like Louis and Katrina. The list is pretty long.

Title: Efforts To Capitalize on Jamieb Foxx's Viral Ailment

jamie.jpg

But it was really bad. All the cries, sadness, and pauses Foxx did on stage were clearly scripted. And you don't want the sadness a survivor shows when telling his story to be scripted because it all begins to feel fake and you start to doubt them. This dude was telling his story but it all seemed like he was acting and trying to hard to make it dramatic. There were even points where some poignant music was scripted to come on, some sound effects and thunder was introduced too, like what in the hell, dude? We thought this actually meant a lot to you. LOL.

Title: The Silent Twins

silent.jpg

The movie portrayal is so psychologically gripping. The two actresses deserve an award for how they interpreted the roles depicting the idiosyncrasies of the psychotic headspace of the Gibbons sisters enough for a compelling performance. It was so believable!!! Whilst watching this nonetheless, it got boring to be honest cause I couldn’t quite wrap my head around the twins’ seemingly odd abnormal behaviour yet I couldn’t quite quit watching cause I was intrigued as the story was compelling.

Title: Beast of No Nation

beast.png

The film features an impressive performance by Idris Elba as Commandant, the ruthless leader of the rebel group that Agu joins. Abraham Attah, a young Ghanaian actor, makes his film debut as Agu, delivering a heart-wrenching and nuanced performance. The journey of Agu was a very interesting one, he was separated from his parent. Had to join the rebel army which he knows nothing about, he was initiated into a cult and was granted power via black magic. The process of obtaining this power was a cruel one where they had to go through different torture, be buried alive, and have to see some of their friends die through this process.

Title: A Real Pain

dan.png

The chemistry between the characters, along with the exploration of themes like depression, human connection, and family reconciliation, elevates this movie beyond just a road trip comedy. It’s deeply emotional, aiming to tug at the audience’s heartstrings. I don’t usually recommend watching Oscar-nominated films, but this one is worth it—especially if you connect with the themes, if you know someone who struggles with depression, or if you’ve had a connection with someone like that and want to rekindle it.

And there you have it! Congratulations to all those spotlighted this week. We look forward to more exceptional content. And to everyone posting in the community, we look forward to seeing more of you around.
