The Lion King

This is me walking back into a nostalgic era. I spent the weekend pouring over old animations and eventually the remakes as movies. The main one was The Lion King.

It just strikes me to think that this animation over two decades ago could still hold my attention and provoke that nostalgic feeling within me. However, going back, I decided to watch the remake which is the 2019 movie because I never really got around to watching it. Whatever got me putting it off for so long I can’t remember but what I do know now is that The Lion King remake is just as epic.

A lot of money went into this thing, that much I can tell without having to even look at the budget, but what I enjoyed the most was that they did not add or subtract much. It was just like watching the Animation but this time it had heavy use of CGI. Now, why did I watch this from the top, not just because I missed it but also because I had one ultimate goal: Mufasa.

After watching the part where Simba lost Mufasa, I went ahead to watch the story of Mufasa. See, I know certain young girls who seem to have a crush on this lion dude, even have pictures of him ripped animation style. It is very funny how they gush over how strong he is and how this gorgeous guy who happens to be the voice actor is worth looking at for the rest of their lives. Again…funny. Lol.

Anyway, watching Mufasa made me understand the Scar guy more. He, unlike Mufasa, was privileged. Even in real life, this is what separates many people. Especially the classes. We have those who have to work their way up and then we have those who are up and are comfortable enough to not realise when they are going down. Taka (Scar) was a bit more complicated as a character. To think the catalyst to his change was Sarabi, the lioness.

Anyway, Scar was stuck between a hard place and a rock and he chose to just eat the rock and lie in the hard place. Eh? He could have just let Mufasa perish but he helped and then turned around to be bitter about it. Why, I will never understand - or maybe I do but just not bothered to think about it much. Anyway, I spent the weekend being a kid again, somewhat, and it was totally worth it.

My exact thoughts! Why didn't he just embrace the "twistedness" of his heart right from the onset.
I lowkey understand Scar though, although we all chose our paths, the background with which we grow up also matters. Scar was brought up to depend on people to do things for him. Imagine, the female lions hunt, the prides (male lions) just rest all day.

Yet, he could have chosen right but it's been in his blood right from time to be a lazy entitled brat. Only normal he grew fully into the character.

I think that is a lion for you...lol. Scar was a true bred lion but then Mufasa? He was a victim of circumstances but just as you pointed out, he chose his path in the end.

I saw this movie today with my daughter. Although I'm not done, I no longer think it's trashy as I would be continuing it 🙂
