Uznałam, że do sobotniego sprzątania łazienki puszczę sobie jakiś lekki film. Nie orientuję się w nowościach filmowych, mam naprawdę duże, wieloletnie zaległości. Postanowiłam więc wejść na apkę disney i puścić pierwszy film, który będzie wydawał się lekki, więc nie będzie wymagał pilnego śledzenia akcji i będę mogła przy nim sprzątać. Algorytm podpowiedział mi "Something beautiful" z Miley Cyrus, a opis rekomendował tę pozycję jako "jedyną w swoim rodzaju napędzaną fantazją operę popową".

I decided to watch a light movie while I was cleaning the bathroom on Saturday. I'm not up to date on new movies; I'm seriously behind on them, years in the making. So I decided to go on the Disney app and play the first movie I thought would be light, so it wouldn't require me to keep up with the action and I could clean while I was watching it. The algorithm suggested "Something Beautiful" with Miley Cyrus, and the description recommended it as a "one-of-a-kind fantasy-driven pop opera."

Może ja źle interpretuję słowo "opera", ale spodziewałam się jakiejkolwiek fabuły tutaj. A przynajmniej jakiegoś tematycznego powiązania utworów. Ku mojemu zdziwieniu okazało się, że to jest po prostu album muzyczny, do którego Miley nagrała teledyski do każdego utworu, i to nawet chyba było puszczane w kinach. Fajnie, ale żeby opera? Żeby nie było, doceniam Miley jako artystkę, pomimo, że Hanny Montany nie obejrzałam w życiu - ten etap mnie kompletnie ominął. Parę utworów, które wydała po powrocie do szołbiznesu, lubię bardzo. Większość jest mi obojętna, bo to nie do końca mój gatunek.

Maybe I'm misinterpreting the word "opera," but I expected some kind of plot here. Or at least some thematic connection between the songs. To my surprise, it turned out to be simply a music album, for which Miley recorded music videos for each song, and I think they even aired in theaters. Cool, but an opera? To be clear, I appreciate Miley as an artist, even though I've never seen Hannah Montana—I completely missed that stage. I really like a few of the songs she released since returning to show business. Most of them are indifferent to me, as they're not really my genre.

Nie jestem na tyle fanką, żeby obejrzeć całość. Do sprzątania traktowałam to jako po prostu muzykę z teledyskiem w tle. Może gdybym była wielką fanką, miałabym jakieś poruszenie. Przyznać trzeba, że Miley wygląda pięknie, stylizacja teledysków też jest dobra, muzykalnie parę kawałków miło wpadło w ucho, przy kolejnych odsłuchach może zrobiłoby takie wrażenie jak moje ulubione jej kawałki, kto wie. Ale nie jest to film i opis jest błędny. Jeśli ktoś nie marzy o tym, by spędzić godzinę z teledyskami Miley, to niech nie klika tej pozycji :)

I'm not a fan enough to watch the whole thing. I treated it as just music with a music video in the background while cleaning. Maybe if I were a huge fan, I'd be moved. I have to admit, Miley looks beautiful, the music videos are well-styled, and a few of the tracks are catchy musically. Maybe on subsequent listens they'll be as impressive as my favorites of hers, who knows. But it's not a movie, and the description is misleading. If you don't dream of spending an hour watching Miley's music videos, don't click on this one.
