Wow, ależ się rozkręciłam filmowo ostatnio. Jak chyba nigdy dotąd. No ale co innego robić jak taka paskudna zima. Algorytm HBO podpowiedział mi film "Priscilla", co jest kompletnie niestosowne, wszak ja takich filmów nie lubię.

Wow, I've been really into movies lately. Like never before. But what else can you do when it's such a nasty winter? The HBO algorithm suggested "Priscilla," which is completely inappropriate, as I don't like those kinds of movies.

W sumie trochę spodziewałam się romansidła z muzyką Presleya w tle. Myślałam, że poniesie mnie ta historia miłosna i muzyka. Cóż. Nie było tak.

I was actually kind of expecting a romance with Presley's music in the background. I thought I'd be swept away by the love story and the music. Well, I wasn't.

Moje pierwsze wrażenia były: wtf, na co ja patrzę. Nie popieram relacji dzieci z dorosłymi mężczyznami, a takie to właśnie było. W dobie głośnych afer seksualnych gwiazd showbiznesu mam taką petycję: nie normalizujmy tego typu związków. Tu było to aż trochę obrzydliwe, Priscilla była taka wyraźnie młodziutka, a Elvis, niby szanujący jej wiek, nie dotykający jej w żaden sposób, a jednak jako dojrzały mężczyzna przecież nie stworzył z nią relacji partnerskiej, a znalazł sobie po prostu laleczkę, zabaweczkę, na którą wpływał w każdy możliwy sposób.

My first impressions were: WTF, what am I looking at? I don't support relationships between children and adult men, and this is exactly what happened. In this era of high-profile sex scandals involving showbiz stars, I have a petition: let's not normalize these kinds of relationships. It was downright disgusting. Priscilla was so clearly young, and Elvis, supposedly respecting her age and not touching her in any way, yet as a mature man, he didn't form a partnership with her, but simply found himself a doll, a plaything, whom he influenced in every possible way.

Potem jednak spojrzałam na ten film nieco przychylniej, bo właśnie zamiast słodkiej relacji zobrazował dokładnie to: zniewolenie młodej dziewczyny, znajdującej się totalnie pod wpływem impulsywnego mężczyzny, nie szanującego jej uczuć, a za to nazbyt często korzystającego z mocnych używek - leków nasennych i narkotyków.

But then I looked at this film a bit more favorably, because instead of a sweet relationship, it depicted exactly this: the enslavement of a young girl, totally under the influence of an impulsive man who does not respect her feelings and, instead, uses strong stimulants - sleeping pills and drugs too often.

Ostatecznie bohaterka dojrzewa, ale do tego doprowadziło ją chyba dopiero urodzenie córki. A kiedy dojrzewa - dochodzi do jedynej słusznej decyzji. Ogólnie nie było to złe, ale jakieś wyborne też nie. Ot, do obejrzenia.

Ultimately, the heroine matures, but it was probably only the birth of her daughter that brought her to this point. And when she matures, she makes the only right decision. Overall, it wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. It's quite worth watching.
