Kolejny film dzięki dobrodziejstwu gotowania przy tablecie oraz podróży autobusem - obejrzany. Znowu Anderson, choć tym razem Wes, a nie Paul Thomas, jak przy "Jednej bitwie za drugą".
Another film, thanks to the benefits of cooking on a tablet and traveling by bus, I watched it. Anderson again, though this time it's Wes, not Paul Thomas, as in "One Battle After Another."
Spisanie moich wrażeń zacznę od tego, co bardzo, bardzo lubię w tym filmie: warstwę wizualną i dźwiękową, jest absolutnie na najwyższym poziomie. Rewelacja, jak na Wesa Andersona przystało - dowiózł to, czego po nim oczekujemy. Zdjęcia, zabarwienie kadrów, stylizacje bohaterów - to uczta dla oka. Dodajmy do tego obsadę, ah jej! Benicio del Toro!!, Scarlett Johansson, Tom Hanks, Benedict Cumberbatch, Michael Cera. Moją wielką radość wzbudziło pojawienie się na ekranie dawno niewidzianego informatyka z serialu "IT crowd", Richarda Ayoade.
I'll start my impressions with what I really, really like about this film: the visuals and sound are absolutely top-notch. It's a revelation, as befits Wes Anderson – he delivers everything we expect from him. The cinematography, the color palette, the characters' stylings – it's a feast for the eyes. Add to that the cast – oh my! Benicio del Toro!!, Scarlett Johansson, Tom Hanks, Benedict Cumberbatch, Michael Cera. I was delighted to see the long-lost IT specialist from the series "IT Crowd," Richard Ayoade, appear on screen.
Doceniam film za poczucie humoru, bo było, owszem. Ale niestety, jakoś ono do mnie nie przemawiało. Nie było to to, co mnie bawi, choć odczułam tą lekkość tego filmu dzięki tym komediowym elementom.
I appreciate the film's sense of humor, because it was there, yes. But unfortunately, it didn't resonate with me. It wasn't what I found funny, although I did feel the film's lightness thanks to its comedic elements.
To, co mnie kompletnie nie ruszyło, to - szczerze mówiąc i niestety fabuła. Działo się tam sporo w związku z chytrym planem Zsa-zsa Kordy, ale jakoś mnie to nie interesowało. Mógł to być dla mnie zarówno film o niczym, a przecież nie był on o niczym. Jakoś tak czegoś tu zabrakło - albo mojej uwagi, albo czegoś takiego w fabule bądź wykonaniu, co sprawia, że film nas pochłania. Popatrzałam na ładnie nakręcone sceny i na lubianych aktorów. I tyle.
What didn't move me at all—honestly, and unfortunately—was the plot. There was a lot going on in the film, related to Zsa-zsa Korda's cunning plan, but it didn't really interest me. It could have been a film about nothing, but it wasn't. Something was missing—either my attention span, or something in the plot or execution that makes a film engaging. I looked at the beautifully shot scenes and the actors I liked. And that was it.

Jest 1950 rok. Anatole "Zsa-zsa" Korda (Benicio del Toro), enigmatyczny przemysłowiec i jeden z najbogatszych ludzi w Europie, po raz kolejny uchodzi z życiem z katastrofy lotniczej (to już jego szósty wypadek). Jego szeroko zakrojone, niezwykle skomplikowane i bezwzględne działania biznesowe uczyniły go wrogiem nie tylko konkurencyjnych korporacji, ale także rządów o każdej możliwej ideologii – i celem dla niezliczonych zamachowców.
Obecnie Korda stoi u progu finalizacji projektu życia: monumentalnego planu rozwoju infrastruktury morskiej i lądowej w Fenicji, zwanego Korda Land and Sea Phoenician Infrastructure Scheme. To przedsięwzięcie, choć potencjalnie niezwykle dochodowe, niesie za sobą ogromne ryzyko finansowe.
W tym kluczowym momencie Korda postanawia wyznaczyć następczynię – swoją dwudziestoletnią, dawno niewidzianą córkę Liesl, która… obecnie jest zakonnicą. Wraz z osobistym nauczycielem Bjornem (Michael Cera), Zsa-zsa i Liesl przemierzają nowoczesną, niezależną Fenicję, odwiedzając partnerów biznesowych i próbując załatać rosnącą lukę finansową.
Po drodze Liesl rozpoczyna własne śledztwo w sprawie niewyjaśnionego morderstwa swojej matki – pierwszej żony Zsa-zsy – które miało miejsce dziesięć lat wcześniej.
Film Synopsis: The Phoenician System
It's 1950. Anatole "Zsa-zsa" Korda (Benicio del Toro), an enigmatic industrialist and one of the richest men in Europe, has once again escaped a plane crash (his sixth). His extensive, incredibly complex, and ruthless business dealings have made him an enemy not only of competing corporations but also of governments of every conceivable ideology—and a target for countless assassins. Currently, Korda stands on the verge of finalizing the project of a lifetime: a monumental plan to develop Phoenicia's maritime and land infrastructure, known as the Korda Land and Sea Phoenician Infrastructure Scheme. This venture, while potentially extremely profitable, carries enormous financial risks. At this crucial moment, Korda decides to appoint a successor – his twenty-year-old, long-lost daughter, Liesl, who is now a nun. Accompanied by her personal tutor, Bjorn (Michael Cera), Zsa-zsa and Liesl journey through modern, independent Phoenicia, visiting business partners and trying to plug their growing financial gap. Along the way, Liesl begins her own investigation into the unsolved murder of her mother – Zsa-zsa's first wife – which occurred ten years earlier.
