YOLO (2024): A Movie That Make Me Think About My Own Life

I watch the Chinese movie YOLO few days ago, and honestly I did not expect it to touch me the way it did. The film is directed by Jia Ling, who also act in the movie, and it turn out to be one of the most moving story I seen this year. It is not only about a comedy or drama, it is a movie that show how someone can fight back against life when everything seems lost or to say hopeless.

The main character Du Leying (played by Jia Ling) is a woman who stay at home, overweight, jobless and with no direction. At first she look like someone who already give up on herself. Then she meet a boxing coach and start training. Slowly she begin to change, not just in body but also in her heart. I think many people can relate with this, because sometimes life put us down and we feel useless, but when we find something to fight for, we start to rise again and it's a new hope.

One scene that really make me smile was when Du manage to land her first proper punch in training. The coach look surprise, and you can see how her face light up. That moment felt like she was punching away all the sadness she carry for years i sat and thought imagine someone that has no hope before. Another part I like was the training moments, even when she was sweating and failing, she keep trying. For me that show real courage.

The biggest lesson from YOLO is simple: life will not wait for you to be ready. You only live once, so you must stand up, even when you are scared or weak. That word “YOLO” is not just the title, it is like a reminder that we should stop wasting time and start living.

Watching this movie make me think about my own struggles too. Many time I also delay things or let fear control me. But seeing Du’s journey give me hope that no matter where we are now, change is possible if we decide to fight for it.

If you want a movie that is funny, real and inspiring, YOLO is the one to watch. It will make you laugh, maybe cry a bit, but mostly it will make you believe in yourself again and rise to feet.
