Im Februar hat der US Supreme Court große Teile der von Trump eingehobenen umstrittenen Zölle aufgehoben und entschieden, dass diese rückwirkend zurückgezahlt werden müssen.
Dabei geht es um eine große Summe Geld, $166 Milliarden sollen zurückgezahlt werden, aber jetzt haltet euch fest, nicht an die Konsumenten, sondern an die Import-Firmen, die sich jetzt über einen großen Refund freuen können.
Die Konsumenten gehen leer aus, obwohl sich die Zölle bereits auf die Preise niedergeschlagen haben und letztendlich zahlen alle Verbraucher-Steuern sowieso immer die Konsumenten, nicht die Importeure.
Die Importeure haben nicht damit kalkuliert, dass sie die Zölle wieder zurückbekommen, sondern die Preise angehoben.
In der Zwischenzeit wirft der britische BBC der Trump-Administration Insider-Handel vor.
Trump könnte sowohl Tweets zum Iran-Krieg als auch früher schon Tweets zu den Zöllen, nicht nur als politische Waffe, sondern auch für Insider-Geschäfte verwendet haben, um sich und seine Familie persönlich zu bereichern. Ist heftig, falls das stimmt.
Was sagt ihr dazu, dass die Zölle jetzt an die Importeure und nicht wie von Trump versprochen an die Bürger ausgezahlt werden?

In February, the U.S. Supreme Court overturned large portions of the controversial tariffs imposed by Trump and ruled that they must be refunded retroactively.
This involves a huge sum of money—$166 billion are about to be refunded—but here’s the kicker, not to consumers, but to the import companies, which can now look forward to a massive refund.
Consumers are left empty-handed, even though the tariffs have already been passed on to prices, and ultimately, it’s always consumers who pay all consumer-related taxes anyway, not the importers.
The importers didn’t factor in getting the tariffs back, instead, they raised their prices in many cases.
Meanwhile, the British BBC is accusing the Trump administration of insider trading.
Trump may have used tweets about the Iran war, as well as earlier tweets about tariffs, not only as a political weapon but also for insider trading to personally enrich himself and his family. That’s insane if true.

What a real scam, in the end consumers paid tariffs and get nothing back...
This whole term for this administration has just been one massive money grab. This just seems par for the course for them. This is historical levels of corruption
It seems logical to me that the importing companies are the ones who paid, so they're the ones who should be reimbursed. The invoices are the only real way to verify that payment. If they passed it on to their customers, that's much harder to assess and far less measurable for reimbursement.
It might seem unfair, but if we want to take action, the logical thing would be to imprison those who caused or allowed it. The president and his administration for doing it, as well as the courts for not stopping it in time. It's the problem with all systems: when they break the law, they never face the consequences.
Wenn man etwas größeres gekauft hatte wo Zoll anfiel, sollte man sich dann an den Händler wenden und eine Erstattung verlangen.
Händler sollten Kulant sein, damit ihr Image nicht schadet.

Die Auszahlung an die Importeure ist meines Erachtens naheliegend. Sie haben die direkte Belastung gehabt und mussten die Zölle bezahlen, deshalb steht ihnen auch der Rückzahlungsanspruch zu. Die indirekte Belastung durch die ganze oder teilweise Weitergabe (manche Importeure haben durchaus auch geringere Margen in Kauf genommen) dürfte sich kaum richtig berechnen lassen.
Dass das für die Verbraucher unfair ist, ist aber richtig. Und dass die Importeure die Entlastung wieder weitergeben, denke ich nicht. Wobei es vielleicht doch zumindest dann einen gewissen Anspruch geben könnte, wenn dem Verbraucher damals die Zölle ausdrücklich in Rechnung gestellt wurden.
Mein Fazit: Schlecht durchdachte Gau-Ruck-Aktionen machen vielleicht kurzfristig Eindruck auf die Anhänger, schnell fällt einem das auf die Füße. Dass die Zölle rechtswidrig waren, haben ja schon früh die meisten vermutet.
Zusätzlich steigt auch das Budgetdefizit weiter an, was wiederum zu mehr Inflation und höheren Preisen führen wird. Auch die neu eingeführten Zölle könnten wieder für rechtswidrig erklärt werden. Total crazy.
