Spain–Argentina 1:0. Spain won, first half time show, one disputed Spain goal not counted

Spanien ist Weltmeister. Gestern fand das lang erwartete Finale der Fußball-WM im MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, in der Nähe von NYC statt. Spanien dominierte das Spiel spätestens seit der zweiten Halbzeit und die Argentinier hatten kaum noch Ballbesitz, konnten aber alle Angriffe der Spanier verteidigen. So gingen beiden Halbzeiten mit 0:0 zu Ende, aber es gab eine zweite gelbe Karte (=rote Karte) gegen Fernandez, womit in der Verlängerung Argentinien nur noch 10 Spieler am Feld hatte.

Zwischen den beiden Halbzeiten gab es auch zum ersten Mal eine längere Half Time Show mit Auftritten von Madonna, BTS (K-Pop), Justin Bieber, Shakira, Burna Boy, einem Kinderchor (PS22 Chorus) und der Muppet Show. Amerika sind Weltmeister im Showbiz.

In der Verlängerung kam es dann zu 3 Toren der Spanier, wobei nur eines von Torres offiziell zählte. Ein anderes Tor von Williams wurde wegen einem angeblichen Foul am Torwart aberkannt, Merino soll Otamendi leicht auf den Fuß gestiegen sein, nur hat man das selbst im Video kaum gesehen. Und dann gab es noch eine leichte Abseitsposition bei einem zweiten Tor von Torres, das ebenfalls nicht zählte.

Nach dem Spiel, das Spanien mit 1:0 verdient gewonnen hat, soll es zu einem unsportlichen Handgemenge zwischen argentinischen und spanischen Spielern gekommen sein. Die auf Social Media geteilten Szenen werden aber laufend wegen angeblichen Copyright-Verstößen zensiert und gelöscht, auch wenn der Clip nur ein paar Sekunden lang ist.

Habe das Spiel übrigens das erste Mal auf BBC bzw. RTE über livetv.sx verfolgen können, was mir @honeydue im Posting über die Geoblocks empfohlen hat. Vor der Verlängerung brach jedoch der BBC-Stream zusammen, worauf ich auf den irischen Sender RTE wechseln musste. Aber in Summe hat das mit dem Stream ganz gut geklappt.

Was sagt ihr zum Spiel und zur Halbzeitshow? Findet ihr das aberkannte Tor in Ordnung? Warum wurde es nicht mit VAR überprüft? Wer war euer Favorit?

Spain is the World Cup Champion. Yesterday, the long-awaited World Cup final took place at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, near NYC. Spain dominated the game starting in the second half at the latest, and the Argentines barely had any ball possession, but they managed to defend against all of Spain’s attacks. Thus, both halves ended 0–0, but Fernandez received a second yellow card (resulting in a red card), leaving Argentina with only 10 players on the field during extra time.

Between the two halves, there was also, for the first time, an extended halftime show featuring performances by Madonna, BTS (K-pop), Justin Bieber, Shakira, Burna Boy, a children’s choir (PS22 Chorus), and The Muppet Show. America is the world champion of showbiz.

In extra time, Spain scored three goals, though only one by Torres officially counted. Another goal by Williams was disallowed due to an alleged foul on the goalkeeper, Merino was said to have stepped lightly on Otamendi’s foot, though this was barely visible even on video. And then there was a slight offside call on Torres’s second goal, which also didn’t count.

After the game, which Spain deservedly won 1–0, there was reportedly an unsportsmanlike scuffle between Argentine and Spanish players. However, the footage shared on social media is constantly being censored and taken down due to alleged copyright violations even if the clip is just a few seconds long.

By the way, I was able to watch the game for the first time on the BBC or RTE via livetv.sx, which @honeydue recommended to me in my post about the geoblocks. Before extra time, however, the BBC stream crashed, so I had to switch to the Irish broadcaster RTE. But overall, the stream worked out pretty well.
