Mozartkugel Price Index Update (May 2026) What does one piece of Austria's most famous chocolate cost at the moment. Mind-boggling.
Was kostet die "Original Salzburger Mozartkugel" der Salzburger Konditorei Fürst im Moment?
2.20 Euro. Damit kostet ein Stück bereits über 2 Euro. Dachte sogar, dass der Preis noch stärker gestiegen sein könnte. Der Preis wurde übrigens bereits Ende 2025 von 2.10 auf 2.20 erhöht. Eine erneute Preiserhöhung 2026 ist daher nicht ausgeschlossen.
Die Fürst-Mozartkugel ist so etwas wie das Flagship der Mozartkugeln und laut eigenen Angaben der Erfinder der Mozartkugeln, wobei letzteres etwas umstritten ist. Die Fürst-Kugel wird hauptsächlich in Salzburg verkauft und auch in Salzburg hergestellt und ist meiner Meinung nach die beste Mozartkugel, die man kaufen kann.
Wenn ihr eine echte österreichische Mozartkugel essen wollt, dann esst diese. Keine "billige" Massenware aus Wien, Deutschland oder China.
Was sagt ihr zum Preisanstieg? Vor etwas mehr als 10 Jahren konnte man eine Fürst-Mozartkugel noch für 1 Euro pro Stück kaufen.

How much does the “Original Salzburger Mozartkugel” (Salzburg Chocolate Balls) from the Salzburg confectionery Fürst currently cost?
2.20 euros. That means a single piece already costs over 2 euros. I actually thought the price might have gone up even more. Incidentally, the price was already raised from 2.10 to 2.20 at the end of 2025. Another price increase in 2026 cannot therefore be ruled out.
The Fürst Mozartkugel is something of a flagship among Mozartkugeln and, according to the company itself, the inventor of the Mozartkugel, though the latter claim is somewhat controversial. The Fürst Mozartkugel is sold primarily in Salzburg and is also manufactured there, and in my opinion, it’s the best Mozartkugel you can buy.
If you want to eat a real Austrian Mozartkugel, then eat this one. Not some “cheap” mass-produced version from Vienna, Germany, or China.
What do you think about the price increase? More than 10 years ago, you could still buy a Fürst Mozartkugel for 1 euro each.

I don't think I have ever tried it, but I think inflation hurts. The price is pretty much almost doubled.

1 Euro war vor 10 Jahren auch kein Schnäppchen, im Vergleich zu andern, würde ich mal sagen, denn die sind ja nicht größer, als die aus der Packung, oder?
Wenn ich mal in Salzburg wäre, dann würde ich mir eine kaufen, weil es dann dazu gehört. Aber aus Prinzip nur eine, weil es so überteuert ist. 🙃

Yep sind nicht größer als die aus dem Supermarkt, aber wesentlich besser.

Wenn man in Salzburg ist, sind Mozartkugeln schon fast ein muss. Der Preis hilft aber ein bisschen, dass man es dabei nicht übertreibt :)

There has been a shortage of chocolate supply everywhere due to lower harvest yields. Cocoa only grows in specific tropical conditions, and there have been problems with the weather so the prices everywhere have really gone up, and I have seen news about companies bulking them with milk solids or fats or sugar to keep the cost down.
Das kann doch gar nicht sein, die EU und unsere Regierung(en) erzählen uns doch seit Jahren etwas ganz anderes über die Inflation bei uns....
Wenn ich das grob schätze wären das ca. 8% im Durchschnitt die letzten 10 Jahre.
Kommt hin, die wahre Inflation ist eher 10 als 3%.
