Mobile prepaid internet speed by Three UK in London thx to 5G support insanely fast at night, slow during the day.

Das Internet in London war mit einer Prepaid-Karte von Three UK untertags relativ langsam, oft nur wenige Mbps und ein großer Lag (Ping 866ms), in der Nacht outdoors in der Nähe einer 5G-Zelle habe ich sogar über 500 Megabit pro Sekunde geschafft. Unglaublich. Schneller als meine Internetverbindung in Wien.

Im Hotel war der 5G-Emfpang aber nicht so gut und ich musste manuell zu LTE wechseln.

Trotzdem cool, dass man bei Three in UK um 10 Pfund bei einer Prepaid-Karte sogar 5G-Empfang bekommt, das ist in Österreich, wo die Tarife grundsätzlich eher günstig sind, nicht immer der Fall.

Was sagt ihr dazu? Habt ihr auch schon 5G getestet? Was sind eure Erfahrungen damit? Müsst ihr oft zu LTE wechseln, wenn ihr unterwegs seid, um eine stabilere Verbindung zu bekommen?

The internet in London was relatively slow during the day with a prepaid card from Three UK, often only a few Mbps and a large lag (ping 866ms), but at night outdoors near a 5G cell, I even managed over 500 megabits per second. Unbelievable. Faster than my internet connection in Vienna.

However, 5G reception wasn't so good at the hotel, and I had to switch to LTE manually.

Still, it's cool that Three in the UK offers 5G support for just £10 with a prepaid card, which is not always the case in Austria, where rates are generally quite low and affordable.

What do you think? Have you tried 5G yet? What has been your experience with it? Do you often have to switch to LTE when you're on the go to get a more stable connection?

5G habe ich noch nicht, nur LTE. Bei nem neuen Handy dann. Ist das denn bei alltäglichen Sachen überhaupt ein Unterschied? Glaube nur bei datenintensiven Sachen, oder?

Genau, ist eher bei datenintensiven Sachen schneller, auch Ping ist schneller, sonst kein merkbarer Unterschied, aber nur wenn man eine gute, nahe Verbindung zu einer 5G-Station hat.

I think the load on the internet connection increases during the day when most people are online and that's the reason for the slowness. But at night most are offline so, naturally the speed increases.
