Meta acquired moltbook. Could Meta also buy Hive?

Meta hat das gehypte soziale Network für KI-Agenten moltbook erworben, wobei es ähnlich wie bei der OpenClaw-Übernahme mehr ein Acqui-hire Move ist. Die beiden Co-Founder von moltbook Matt Schlicht and Ben Parr arbeiten jetzt für das Meta Superintelligence Labs. Bei solchen Übernahmen durch Big-Tech geht es mehr darum, talentierte Mitarbeiter anzuwerben und an neuen Entwicklungen in der KI und Social-Media-Sphäre zu partizipieren und diese auch zu einem gewissen Grad zu kontrollieren.

Bin mir sicher, dass Meta auch die Entwicklung im Krypto-Social-Media sehr genau verfolgt. Allerdings wäre eine komplette Übernahme von Hive aufgrund der dezentraleren Struktur nicht so einfach im klassischen Sinn möglich.

Dass das nicht so einfach geht, hat auch Justin Sun bei der Übernahme von Steemit Inc. feststellen müssen. Die Community hat das Projekt nach der feindlichen Übernahme geforked und weite Teile des Ökosystems sind dann auf Hive gefolgt.

Was aber gehen würde ist, dass Meta zum Beispiel einzelne Blockchain-Entwickler, Teams oder Frontends anwerben könnte oder sich einen größeren Stake in Hive aufbaut, wobei das aufgrund der Erfahrungen mit der Steemit-Übernahme eher ein riskantes Vorgehen und eine Gradwanderung wäre, vor allem wenn der Stake und damit der Einfluss zu groß werden würde.

Eine andere realistischere Möglichkeit wäre, dass Meta Hive in ihr Ökosystem integriert ohne es zu übernehmen, ähnlich wie Threads auch die Schnittstelle zu Mastodon (ActivityPub) nutzt, um Daten aus dem Fediverse zu integrieren, was aber in der Mastodon-Community nicht immer auf Zustimmung stößt.

Sollte Hive oder ein anderes krypto-basiertes soziales Netzwerk über die Krypto-Community hinaus an Bedeutung gewinnen, wäre es möglich dass Meta auch aktiv Frontends für diese Netzwerke entwickelt, um so User auf ihre Plattform zu locken.

Was sagt ihr zu Übernahme von moltbook durch Meta? Hat moltbook überhaupt irgendeinen sinnvollen Use-Case oder ist es nur eine fake Plattform für AI-Slop? Denkt ihr könnte Meta auch Hive übernehmen?

Meta has acquired the hyped social network for AI agents moltbook, although, similar to the OpenClaw acquisition, this is more of an acqui-hire move. The two co-founders of moltbook, Matt Schlicht and Ben Parr, are going to work for Meta Superintelligence Labs. Such acquisitions by Big Tech are more about recruiting talented employees and participating in new developments in the AI and social media sphere, as well as controlling them to a certain extent.

I am sure that Meta is also following developments in crypto social media very closely. However, a complete takeover of Hive would not be so easy in the traditional sense due to its more decentralized structure.

Justin Sun also discovered that this is not an easy task when he acquired Steemit Inc. The community forked the project after the hostile takeover, and large parts of the ecosystem then followed Hive.

What would be possible, however, is for Meta to recruit individual blockchain developers, teams, or front-ends, for example, or to build up a larger stake in Hive, although based on the experience with the Steemit takeover, this would be a rather risky move and a balancing act, especially if the stake and thus the influence became too large.

Another more realistic possibility would be for Meta to integrate Hive into its own ecosystem without taking it over, similar to how Threads also uses the Mastodon (ActivityPub) interface to integrate data from the Fediverse, which, however, does not always meet with approval in the Mastodon community.

If Hive or other cryto-based social networks were to gain significance beyond the crypto community, it is possible that Meta would also actively develop front ends for these networks in order to attract users to its platform.
