Hungary stopped a cash and gold convoy from Vienna to Ukraine due to money laundering concerns
In Ungarn wurden zwei Geldtransporter mit Bargeld und Gold im Wert von 82 Millionen Dollar beschlagnahmt, die von Wien zu einer staatlichen Bank in die Ukraine unterwegs waren.
Wofür das Bargeld genau verwendet wird, wurde nicht bekanntgegeben, Ungarn begründet den Zugriff mit Geldwäscheverdacht, aber es könnte sich auch um einen legalen Geldtransport handeln.
Trotzdem wirft der Transport Fragen auf, warum so große Mengen Bargeld und Gold in die Ukraine über Ungarn transportiert werden.
Ungarn befindet sich derzeit auch im Wahlkampf und in einem Pipeline-Streit mit der Ukraine. Ungarn wirft der Ukraine vor, kein Öl mehr über die Druzhba-Pipeline nach Ungarn zu liefern. Dieser Konflikt ist zuletzt auch verbal eskaliert.
Diese Aktion mit dem Geldtransporter könnte in diesem Zusammenhang gesehen werden. Wenn Ungarn kein Öl mehr über die Ukraine bekommt, könnte im Gegenzug auch Bargeld und Gold-Transporte über Ungarn in die Ukraine versiegen.
Was sagt ihr dazu? In aktuellen Meinungsumfragen führt diesmal der Oppositionskandidat Peter Magyar, wobei man solche Umfragen mit Vorsicht genießen muss, da die Situation jetzt auch mit dem Iran-Krieg sehr dynamisch ist. Die EU würde Orban vermutlich am liebsten los werden, da er immer wieder mit der EU und der Ukraine im Clinch liegt. Bin gespannt, wie die Wahl im April in Ungarn ausgeht.

In Hungary, two money transport vehicles carrying cash and gold worth $82 million were seized. They were en route from Vienna to a state-owned bank in Ukraine.
The exact purpose of the cash has not been disclosed. Hungary justified the seizure on the grounds of suspected money laundering, but it could also have been a legal cash transport.
Nevertheless, the transport raises questions as to why such large amounts of cash and gold are being transported to Ukraine via Hungary.
Hungary is currently in the midst of an election campaign and a pipeline dispute with Ukraine. Hungary accuses Ukraine of no longer supplying oil to Hungary via the Druzhba pipeline. This conflict has recently escalated verbally.
This action with the money transporter could be seen in this context. If Hungary no longer receives oil via Ukraine, cash and gold transports via Hungary to Ukraine could also dry up in return.
What do you think? In current opinion polls, opposition candidate Peter Magyar is in the lead, although such polls should be taken with a grain of salt, as the situation is very dynamic right including the war in Iran and its impact on the . The EU would probably like to get rid of Orban, as he is constantly at odds with the EU and Ukraine. I am curious to see how the election in Hungary will turn out in April.

Nicht nur die EU würde gern Orban los werden auch genügend Ungarn würden ihn gern los werden.

If Viktor Orbán declares war on Ukraine, there will be no elections in Hungary, which Orbán would almost certainly lose. It is therefore in his interest to provoke conflicts. Losing the elections would almost certainly mean criminal prosecution for enriching himself at the expense of Hungary.

Could be an indirect way to make Ukraine to reconsider not supply oil to Hungary. Crazy that such means of transport are still happening in this digital age we live in.

I don't really understand why they're sending gold. Don't they need weapons?
I don't blame them for being suspicious about that much cash and gold being transported. Given the allegation that Ukraine isn't delivering oil on their end as agreed, if it's true it's in Ukraine's best interest to make good on their end. If not, I could see Hungary confiscating it and using it to purchase oil elsewhere.

I think it depends, but I just don't think we will have the full story. I have no idea if it was laundering money or not. It is suspicious though.
A gold transport can trigger such scrutiny, especially with the value mentioned.
