Hive Meetup Vienna: How to download all your posts

(edited)

Was sagt ihr dazu?

Was at another cool hive meetup at Gasthaus Quall in Vienna yesterday. Unfortunately there was no big outdoor table left and we had to sit inside, but the interior was quite well ventilated.

@mammasitta threw an interesting question into the round, how can you download all your Hive posts?

The front ends make it rather difficult to access older posts. Doom scrolling.

However, if you want to find individual older articles, you can use the search function of @peakd or @ecency. You can limit the search to a specific author and with a few keywords you can usually find the article you are looking for.

You can also browse the articles chronologically on hivetasks.com. Just tested this and it works quite well. Date-based.

https://hivetasks.com/

To do this, call up the account and then go to Finished in the Posts section. Depending on the depth of the search, for example, retrieve Last 1000, to download the last 1000 posts, and then you can search through the last 1000 posts. However, this takes time. A few minutes for 1000 posts.

Other alternatives are to use a script to download the posts with the Hive API, hivetasks basically uses this method.

https://developers.hive.io/apidefinitions/#condenser_api.get_blog

Last but not least, probably the most efficient method, if you know a bit about SQL and databases, is to query the articles directly with Hive SQL.

What do you think? Do you know a better method or have you already programmed a script for that?

wget2 -l -r 2 hiveblocks.com/@jeyf123/irgendwasmitPage{1..Page_Letzte}
(so ähnlich)

Leider ist hiveblocks wieder einmal down.

I have never come to that question myself, because the search feature has worked so far for me.

But eventually if a user has too many posts, it could start lagging and not working maybe, so downloading would be nicer.

HIVE SQL is the better method for me

I make use of Ecency
I’m familiar with the front end already and it is now easier for me

0.00118884 BEE

It’s possible to also make use of Ecency
Right?

Didn't even know about Hivetaks. I believe Ecency does really well with the searches. It's great for finding specific older posts by limiting searches to your author profile with keywords. It's efficient compared to manual scrolling through numerous entries which obviously there are quite a lot especially for folks that have been on Hive longer

Congratulations @vikisecrets! You have completed the following achievement on the Hive blockchain And have been rewarded with New badge(s)

You received more than 54000 HP as payout for your posts, comments and curation.
Your next payout target is 56000 HP.
The unit is Hive Power equivalent because post and comment rewards can be split into HP and HBD

You can view your badges on your board and compare yourself to others in the Ranking

I use peakd but I will try out this one.

I've written so little so far that I don't need those features. I'll find this article when I need them.

This is very useful information. I hadn't thought of this before. I usually just post and that's it. But sometimes I want to look up something old.

I don't know any better method. If you know what the title is, then sometimes google might work out. However, I think your listed options are better though.

Keep up the good work. 👏🎵

Dear beloved Hive creator,

Coding poet Gudasol here to support you sharing your art + life on Hive.

As a fellow creator, I know how hard it is to get the word out there.

I built cXc.world to help creators like us get more support from the blockchain community + beyond.

Share your music on cXc.world, and copy the Markdown for a easy post includes embedded players for Spotify, Youtube, Soundcloud.

That way, you can earn HIVE + stack streams on centralized platforms, as they do still matter.

Not a music creator? No problem. You can still use cXc.world to find + share music you love.

What's next?

Preview the next evolution of cXc, Tetra.earth.

Expose local music from your area!

We're helping grassroots musicians, and you can too by adding their music (no sign up or WAX account required).

Bad news: Saying see you later to Hive! 👋

We didn't get the needed support to continue cXc.world on Hive, as our DHF proposal lacked votes, but [Good News Everyone] cXc.world will add a Markdown copy button, allowing you to easily share your music + music you find on Hive.

For now, we're on WAX, with tools you can use to mint your own Music/Media NFT collection.
