Hive-Engine cross-chain bridges hacked. Are user funds affected? Funds are safe unless you interact with the bridges.

Gestern wurde ein schwerwiegender Hack, der die meisten Cross-Chain-Bridges der Hive-Engine betrifft gemeldet.

Im Zuge des Hacks wurden laut @aggroed 85 ETH, 58 BNB, 33k POL und 257 SOL erbeutet, was ungefähr 240K USD entspricht.

Für unsere kleine Chain ein großer Schaden, aber im gesamten Krypto-Kontext eher auf dem Level eines Bug-Bounties.

Also zum Glück nicht so dramatisch und hoffentlich ein Incentive, aus dem Fehler zu lernen und in Zukunft mehr in Security Audits oder KI-basierten Pen-Tests zu investieren.

Auf der positiven Seite ist zu erwähnen, dass der Hack öffentlich gemacht wurde, und nur die Bridges betrifft, die oft das schwächste Glied einer DEX darstellen.

Funds auf der Hive-Engine selbst und die native Tokens von Hive und der Hive-Engine sind nicht betroffen. Auch der Splinterlands DAO Fund ist safe.

Das ist die gute Nachricht.

Finde es gut, dass der Hack offen kommuniziert wurde, verbesserungswürdig wären meiner Meinung nach noch zu erwähnen, dass die User-Funds safe sind (was für die User sehr wichtig ist) und der Schaden von den Hive-Engine-Betreibern getragen wird.

Das würde wieder mehr Vertrauen schaffen und so transparent wir möglich sein, was die Security-Vulnerabilities betrifft. Eventuell in Zukunft den Code veröffentlichen und KI-Audits mit Claude Code etc. durchführen.

Yesterday, a serious hack affecting most of the Hive-Engine’s cross-chain bridges was reported.

According to @aggroed, 85 ETH, 58 BNB, 33k POL, and 257 SOL were stolen in the hack, which amounts to approximately $240,000.

This is a significant loss for our small chain, but in the broader crypto context, it’s more on the level of a bug bounty.

So, fortunately, it’s not that dramatic, and hopefully it will serve as an incentive to learn from this mistake and invest more in security audits or AI-based penetration tests in the future.

On the positive side, it’s worth noting that the hack was made public and only affects the bridges, which are often the weakest link in a DEX.

Funds on the Hive-Engine itself and the native tokens of Hive and the Hive-Engine are not affected. The Splinterlands DAO Fund is also safe.

That’s the good news.

I think it’s good that the hack was communicated openly, but in my opinion, it would be worth mentioning that user funds are safe (which is very important for users) and that the Hive-Engine operators will cover the damages.

That would help rebuild trust and ensure as much transparency as possible regarding security vulnerabilities. Perhaps in the future, H-E could publish the code and conduct AI audits using Claude Code, etc.
